Prince Harry and his spouse, Meghan Markle, are learning that while some ideas look great on paper, they do not translate well in real life.
Sometimes, these decisions can become major headaches. The decision taken by Prince Harry and Markle to name their daughter, Lilibet, was a source of drama and confusion from the get-go, with the Royal Family claiming that the duo did not get Queen Elizabeth II‘s full permission.
The self-exiled royals denied the claims and threatened to take legal action. That was almost three years ago.
This month, a new book revealed that Her Majesty was furious about the couple’s decision to use her private pet name without her consent.
It is now strongly believed that this fateful decision will lead to tension and chaos later on as the child grows.
And the claim has once again divided public opinion and is likely to “stoke” tensions. Royal commentator Afua Hagan said the “divided public opinion” about the manner the name was obtained might be a complicated issue for Lilibet when she gets older.
She told Newsweek: “We’ve had the discussion about Lilibet’s name when she was born, and to rake over those coals is a bit mean, and it’s going to stoke up those tensions. It just reignites all the people who say Harry and Meghan were wrong about everything. It’s just going to stoke up all those tensions; it’s going to fuel that fire, most definitely. It’s a bit mean because she’s only little, and it’s the baby’s name. At the time, and I feel it now, it’s quite sweet to name someone after their grandmother.”
Markle’s decision to name-drop Prince Archie will also be a source of trouble later on for the boy.
Many royal watchers are wondering if Markle needed to mention the very expensive camera that Prince Archie wanted for Christmas while promoting the movie The After with her friend and photographer Misan Harriman.
Markle’s confession put the spotlight on the camera brand and the price. Royal expert Neil Sean weighed in on Meghan Markle’s odd decision to only speak about her children for promotional reasons by sharing her conversation with Ziggy Marley, a famous reggae musician. He is the son of reggae icon Bob Marley.
While appearing on the red carpet of the movie One Life, a biopic about Bob Marley, Markle conveniently started talking about her son, Prince Archie, being a reggae fan.
The Fox News writer explained: “What I find fascinating is how suddenly she’s weaving her children into the conversation. But even this didn’t get picked up by the world’s media because, according to Meghan in that very brief chat with Ziggy Marley, she pointed out that Prince Archie was a huge fan of Ziggy’s work. I know he is amazing at such a young age; apparently, he watches the cartoon, Arthur. Arthur is a very, very well-put-together production with a lot of good values. It’s a brilliant sort of cartoon to watch for adults, too, and you can learn quite a bit from it.”
He went on to reveal why Markle’s decision seemed strange: “Now the theme song for you from that particular kids’ TV show is, of course, Ziggy Marley singing Believe in Yourself. Now what’s interesting about this is that it’s a wonderful track, well produced and yes, very catchy indeed, but Meghan has done her homework. I’m not suggesting for one moment that Prince Harry, and as ever we have to say, allegedly has not sat down and watched Arthur at some point; it’s repeated around the world, but either way, thanks to Meghan, we’ve now found out that in fact, Prince Archie is something of a reggae fan.”
Many believe that Markle might regret some of these decisions involving her children in the near future.
If she does not stop mentioning their names on promotional tours, she will be doing a lot of apologizing.
