If Prince William is not ready to let Prince Harry back into the fold through the front gate of the Palace, maybe Queen Camilla might be the one inadvertently letting the Montecito royal through the cracks of a back door.
This weekend, Queen Camilla made a predictable yet sad announcement — overworked, and exhausted, she has decided to take a brief and private vacation somewhere warm and sunny.
At the age of 76, Queen Camilla has been forced to “work” more than ever for the monarchy. The Queen was asked to stand and hold the fort while King Charles III underwent cancer treatment, and Kate Middleton recuperated for several months after surgery.
Prince William has also vanished for personal reasons that involve caring for his wife and three young children. In the past few weeks, Queen Camilla has taken part in 13 royal engagements — including hosting several state events at Buckingham Palace and leading the private memorial service for the late King Constantine II in London.
After doing so much for the century-old institution, Queen Camilla has decided to focus on her physical and mental well-being starting this weekend until March 11.
Her Majesty has cleared up her schedule for some downtime with her children and grandchildren. On Monday, she will travel to an unknown destination for some fun in the sun.
The Palace has declined to reveal where Her Majesty will be heading. The Sunday Times reported: “Although she was not expecting to find herself in the position of leading the family, the Queen is absolutely prepared to do whatever needs to be done for the institution. She has been buoyed by the public’s reaction. She has found reserves of energy that even she didn’t think she had, and the estimation of her by those inside the palace has soared as she has put her shoulder to the wheel.”
The media outlet added: “Her Majesty is robust, positive, and determined to keep going while the King is off public duties. The King is proud and pleased to see the show is being kept on the road by the Queen and the wider family.”
With King Charles’s ongoing serious health struggles, Kate Middleton missing in action, Prince William’s complicated schedule, and some aging senior royals who can barely pull their weight, many see an opening to have Prince Harry take part in some royal engagements.
The Duke of Sussex has made it clear he is open to the idea, and King Charles has not rejected it. Queen Camilla’s rough and draining week and quick vacation seem to confirm what the world already knows: the monarchy needs an extra pair of hands.
