It seems that the only way to put an end to Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s divorce rumors is to have Rose Handbury sit down for a tell-all interview.
Not with Oprah Winfrey, but with a serious news agency like the BBC or AP. It has been a tumultuous few weeks for Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate.
Middleton, who has been dealing with a health crisis — she is recuperating from abdominal surgery and struggling with a stress-related illness — was struck by yet another hurdle — a bizarre photo scandal.
The picture was “killed” by all major agencies, including AP, Getty, and Reuters, for being heavily edited and manipulated.
However, another aspect of the photo led to a major scandal — why was Kate Middleton not wearing her wedding ring? Was it digitally removed, or has she stopped wearing her big blue diamond engagement ring as a sign that her marriage is suffering?
Friends of Kate Middleton did not help, with one of them explaining that they were all “completely baffled” as to why she put out a picture that showed her without a wedding band.
One pal told The Daily Beast: “They are often seen together at school events, and it is remarkable how one and often both of them will always be at every match, every music concert, and every prize giving. The relationship has always seemed incredibly strong despite the immense pressure they are under, so it’s fair to say we were all completely baffled when the picture came out with the wedding ring missing, especially as it was photoshopped. It just seemed guaranteed to get people asking questions about the state of the marriage.”
The chatter about the missing ring put the spotlight on another reason why Princess Kate might have made the move. The international media decided to do a deep dive into the rumors about Prince William having a lengthy affair with Rose Hanbury.
Twitter, now known as X, has pushed many wild theories about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage being on the rocks, and Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley would, like Queen Camilla, go from mistress to Queen of England.
The allegations about Rose Hanbury took on a life of their own when comedian and host Stephen Colbert dedicated a segment to the topic.
On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he joked about the former model who is married to David Cholmondeley, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, saying: “I’m afraid I’ve got some troubling news about England’s royal family. Internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband, and the future King of England, William, having an affair.”
He went on to add: “My heart goes out to poor Kate, but I am ready to spill the tea, literally. I think we all know who the alleged other woman is, say it with me, The Marchioness of Cholmondeley. Now there have been rumors of an affair between William and [Rose] since 2019. According to tabloids, back then, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he ‘laughed it off, saying there was nothing to it.’ Aha, always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating.”
It has now been confirmed that Middleton is greatly suffering because of the unearthed rumor, with a royal source telling In Touch Weekly via Yahoo: “Kate taking her wedding ring off [in a recent family photo] just intensified all the drama surrounding their marriage and the rumors of William’s affair with Rose. You can’t blame her for being at her wit’s end with the rumors about Rose and William completely haunting her. It’s hurtful, especially because she’s still recovering from major surgery.”
Rumors that Prince William cheated with his close friend, Rose Hanbury, first surfaced in 2019 via an article in The Daily Mail that claimed the ladies were “rural rivals.”
It was claimed at the time that Kate Middleton and Rose Hanbury had a fallout over the infidelity reports. Friends of Middleton and Hanbury have always claimed that there is no truth to the steamy affair.
Lawyers for the Marchioness of Cholmondeley have denied the unfounded claims. However, none of the parties involved have ever publicly commented on the unverified rumors — which is why many royal watchers believe that the time is right for Hanbury to sit down for an interview with a media outlet such as BBC or Vogue and finally put the allegations to rest.
Members of the Royal Family live by the motto of “ever complaining and never explaining;” therefore, Kate Middleton and Prince William will be haunted by this rumor for the rest of their lives.
However, Hanbury does not abide by this rule, meaning she can sit down with a respected journalist and talk about her decade-long friendship with the royal couple, her marriage to David Cholmondeley, and their three children.
Hanbury can clarify the misconception that social media has riled up — she and her husband have deep ties to King Charles III and the Royal Family.
She sees the heir and his wife at dinner parties and major events. Her children are friends of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — that was made clear by their interactions at King Charles’s coronation.
She has become a confidant of Middleton because they live in the same aristocratic circles, but she is not romantically involved with Prince William.
