King Charles III found himself in a thorny situation after taking what many believe was a regretful decision.
Leading up to his coronation in 2023, King Charles was struck by the publication of Prince Harry‘s bombshell book, Spare.
Prince Harry divulges every imaginable secret and salacious incident in the Royal Family.
With the backing of the entire family, King Charles decided it was enough and punished Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, by publicly evicting them from Frogmore Cottage.
The pair received the home as a gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II and paid millions for extensive renovations.
However, the familial bond was strained as King Charles, driven by his regal duties, had to make a tough decision, putting his fatherly feelings towards his son on the back burner and evicting him from the royal estate.
Years later, King Charles, 75, and battling cancer, wants to see his grandchildren, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.
A royal source explained to The Mirror this week that King Charles is committed to spending time with Archie and Lilibet.
The media article reported: “The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives. He values family above everything, and whatever the course of his relationship with his son, he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.”
A friend of Prince Harry insisted: “There has never been an issue with the King being in their lives, and there never would be. The door’s always open.”
However, it is getting increasingly complicated for King Charles to bond with Archie and Lilibet, who live in California.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not have permanent homes or proper security in the U.K. Therefore, King Charles is now being blamed for pushing his grandchildren away.
The Daily Beast criticized The Monarch in a piece that said: “Cynics might argue that if the King really wanted to see more of the Sussexes, he wouldn’t have stripped them of their U.K. home. Many believe that Charles has made it as difficult as possible for Harry to visit the U.K. to avoid him setting up a rival court.”
It went on to say: “Prince Harry’s camp has long argued that the eviction has made it more difficult for him to visit the U.K. safely with his family. The security of his children, which would have been assured within the royal protection envelope at Frogmore Cottage, is now a concern. Omid Scobie, in his book Endgame, revealed that Harry, in a moment of emotional confrontation with his father, asked, ‘Don’t you want to see your grandchildren again?'”
The royal commentator labeled the decision to evict Prince Harry, Markle, and their young children as “a cheap shot from a wounded father bound by an institutional system that is often intolerant of human emotion.”‘
This controversy has sparked a heated debate on whether King Charles will provide the family with proper lodging and security so he can actually spend time with the little ones he is eager to bond with.
