George Clooney seems to have President Joe Biden living rent-free in his head. The actor and filmmaker cannot stop talking about the man he humiliated in a lengthy op-ed.
George Clooney recently appeared at a film festival in Italy to promote his latest project, Wolfs, which features Brad Pitt.
While sitting down with reporters, the Oscar winner was asked the burning question on everybody’s mind — what was the reason behind the brutal op-ed he penned for The New York Times, in which he told Biden, at the age of 81, he was incapable of being commander in chief.
After the bad debate and blunders, Clooney demanded that Biden end his reelection bid. When Clooney was asked about the impact of his humiliating piece on the presidential race, he responded that Biden’s decision was “the most selfless thing” since George Washington.
The actor added that not many people will remember his shocking action in the 2024 race. The father of two said: “The person who should be applauded is the president, who has done the most selfless thing anybody has done since George Washington, and that’s the truth. None of the machinations that got us there are going to be remembered. And it shouldn’t be.”
George Clooney went on to say: “What should be remembered is the selfless act of someone who, it’s very hard to let go of power — we know that, we’ve seen it all around the world — and for someone to say I think there’s a better path forward, all the credit goes to him. And that’s really the truth, and all of the rest of it will be long gone and forgotten and so I’m just very proud of where we are in the state of the world right now.”
Many Democrats have clarified to Clooney that he does not speak for them. They never asked for the scathing article and are not interested in his unwanted comments about Biden or any political topic.
After hosting a mega Hollywood fundraiser with Julia Roberts and Barack Obama for Joe Biden, George Clooney wrote: “But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe “big F-ing deal” Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate. Was he tired? Yes. A cold? Maybe. But our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw. We’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we’ve opted to ignore every warning sign.”
Months after Biden left the race, the election remains close and the path is still arduous for Democrats.
