Kelly Rowland is making headlines for having what many are calling a surprising diva moment.
On Thursday, the former Destiny’s Child singer was set to guest host an hour of NBC’s TODAY show when the situation took a dramatic turn.
According to insiders who spoke to Page Six, Kelly shocked the staff members and host of the morning show when she abruptly exited the program.
The reason why: dressing room pandemonium. Sources, who spoke to Page Six, allege that Rowland and her entourage were in the dressing room. This singer expressed concern that the dressing room was positively too small for her wardrobe and her large staff.
It is believed that Jennifer Lopez who was a guest on the show received the biggest dressing room.
One insider stated: “Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,”
In the same breath, the person added: “She’s beloved at TODAY. She was getting the full hour, and Hoda’s the biggest hype woman on the planet! It made no sense. They’re not nice. It’s the oldest building. There are major space limitations, [it’s] not glamorous. It’s not fresh flowers, candles, and gourmet food. It’s basically [a] white box. They didn’t want that. [The show] basically offered up as much as possible, but they weren’t happy with it, so they walked and they left.”
Many people were quick to criticize Beyoncé‘s “sister” and bandmate. Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel ripped Rowland into shreds.
In a now-deleted TikTok video, she let out all the ugly and brutally slammed her fellow actress.
She started with: “I’ve co-hosted with Hoda [Kotb], and I’ve arrived there, and the makeup area that you touch up in is often a drop cloth, like, a black drop-off. And then your dressing room is the size of a closet and you’re trying to fit all your people in the clown car. And you know what? You’re so excited. You’re so gracious.”
She dragged Kelly Rowland back down to reality with this fierce statement: “You’re co-hosting on the TODAY show, an institution in entertainment, a news organization that is not about fancy dressing rooms. That was not the moment for diva expectations.”
The TODAY show scrambled to find a replacement after the fiasco. Via Instagram, British actress and singer Rita Ora confirmed that she was called at the last minute to replace Kelly Rowland.
She wrote: “Well, this happened! We had two minutes to prepare ahhh, thank you @hodaandjenna for asking me to co-host the show…”
Rowland is the lead actress in Typer Perry‘s new movie for Netflix, Mea Culpa.
