During his campaign trail speeches, Donald Trump toyed with mentioning his name and roots.

However, at the Democratic National Convention, Oprah Winfrey was the first to bring up Donald Harris and his role in Kamala Harris‘s life.

The vice president also spoke about her father at the DNC, explaining his belief in her fearless abilities.

In her speech accepting the nomination, the former attorney general of California said that her father told her to be brave, run, and be free to reach her goals on the playground and in life.

Donald Harris was negatively mentioned during the Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate. The former president brought up the vice president’s father to blast him for being a Marxist professor.

The billionaire real estate developer said: “Her father’s a Marxist professor in economics, and he taught her well.”

Kamala Harris’s 86-year-old economist father was dragged again into the ongoing political drama because of Janet Jackson.

In a baffling interview with The Guardian, Janet Jackson claimed she heard that Kamala Harris was not Black and that the vice president’s father was a White man.

The singer stated: “Well, you know what they supposedly said? She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian.”

Continuing with her surprising remarks, Jackson added: “Her father’s White. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told they discovered her father was White.”

Donald Harris, a distinguished economist professor, has made significant contributions to his field. He is a Black man, born in the Caribbean island of Jamaica, who later became an American citizen.

Via Yahoo, here is a mini bio of Mr. Harris: “Donald J. Harris was born in Jamaica in 1938 and moved to the United States in the 1960s to get his Ph.D. at the University of California-Berkeley. Harris taught briefly at the University of Illinois and Northwestern University, then became an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before moving to California and securing a job as a Professor of Economics at Stanford University. He retired in the late 1990s; he holds the title of emeritus professor.”

The Jamaican-American intellectual has toured the world, delivering enlightening speeches and seminars and conducting groundbreaking research in the field of economics.

His influence extends beyond academia. He has also worked as an economic adviser with various countries, shaping policies and strategies.

His scholarly work includes numerous articles on capital accumulation and a groundbreaking theory on economic growth, stimulating intellectual discourse and shaping economic thought.

Harris penned a lengthy piece about his efforts to ensure that daughters Kamala and Maya are fully grounded in their Caribbean roots.

He confessed: “To this day, I continue to retain the deep social awareness and strong sense of identity that grassroots Jamaican philosophy fed in me. As a father, I naturally sought to develop the same sensibility in my two daughters.”

However, one of the most headline-making pieces he has written was about his oldest daughter when she first ran for president in 2020

The economist schooled and scolded the vice president for a joke she made about smoking weed.

He wrote: “My dear departed grandmothers, as well as my deceased parents, must be turning in their graves right now to see their family’s name and proud Jamaican identity being connected in any way, jokingly or not, with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot-smoking joy seeker and in the pursuit of identity politics.”

During the 2024 election cycle, Donald Harris made a strategic decision to protect his privacy and his daughter’s chances of becoming president. He chose not to comment on the historical run, despite residing in Washington DC, just a few miles from the White House.

Mr. Harris has been bombarded with requests from the media to share his thoughts and truths about all that is being written about him and his family.

According to The New York Post, the brilliant mind’s only comment on mudslinging and nasty games being played in the political arena is “no comment.”

He has certainly made it clear he is not talking or meddling in politics.
