Jennifer Lopez and her new husband, Ben Affleck, are going through a rough patch that many close friends and relatives believe will eventually lead to divorce.
One person, who is not surprised by the sad outcome of the marriage, is actress Leah Remini. The former Scientologist turned whistleblower was one of Lopez’s best friends.
The pair were glued to each other’s hips — spending every holiday and vacation together. Lopez never missed an important milestone that Remini was celebrating and vice versa.
However, their tight friendship took an ugly and dramatic turn about two years ago. When Lopez decided to reconcile with Affleck two decades after ending their first engagement, Remini quickly and bluntly told her it was a terrible idea.
The pair got into a heated argument after Remini made some harsh remarks about Affleck. Leah Remini, who is not one to hold her tongue, told Jennifer Lopez that Ben Affleck was not marriage material because he has commitment issues.
A source explained to Page Six: “She warned Lopez to remember the reason she originally broke up with him: Because he is selfish and is not fully committed as a partner.”
Lopez was furious and ended the long-term friendship with Remini. She was not invited to Affleck and Lopez’s multiple wedding celebrations.
The person in the know stated: “J.Lo was so mad, she cut off all ties and did not invite Remini to their wedding.”
It has been confirmed that Lopez and Remini have reconciled as her marriage to the Oscar winner takes a significant hit. An insider told Page Six that Remini’s heart is breaking for her pal, but she struggles to find the right words to support her.
The source claimed: “They were friends for years. She wants to reach out to her, but she can’t just call up and say, ‘I told you so.'”
Remini and Lopez became best friends in 2004 thanks to her then-boyfriend, Marc Anthony. Anthony and Lopez wed, had twins, and divorced.
However, the relationship between the actresses survived. Lopez explained her connection to Remini by saying: “It was one of those instant chemistry things, where you just feel like, ‘I love this person. I love being around this person. This person makes me laugh.”
Remini said in a past interview about Lopez: “We’re very close, like sisters… But in a different way than sisters are.”
Some observers say that the marriage is really over.
