Prince William is not taking the rumors lying down. The monarchy has an adage that royals do not explain their actions and statements.
The motto continues: There is no time for complaining about the irritating and ugly rumors and accusations that come the Royal Family’s way.
Prince William is old enough to understand how harmful reports can be when the Palace does not deny or correct them.
For the sake of his wife, Kate Middleton‘s health and his children’s well-being, he has chosen to end some hurtful accusations directed at his family.
Multiple reports surfaced during the summer claiming that Prince William and his spouse planned to visit Paris to support Team UK during the Olympics.
The heir to the British kingdom and his wife were believed to be planning a brief trip to France for the last week of the games.
However, that did not happen. Prince William and Princess Kate‘s decision to forgo the sporting events opened a floodgate of controversies and backlash.
The power couple was bashed for their lazy antics. They were called out for being unfit to represent the monarchy.
Some even claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should travel to Paris to shame Prince William and his spouse into doing their jobs properly.
Tired of the harsh and unflattering portrayal of him and his wife, Prince William has decided to address the rumors head-on. The relentless rumors and accusations have taken a toll on the Royal Family, prompting the future King to clear the air.
This week, Prince William participated in a royal engagement where he was asked about his absence at the year’s sporting event.
While visiting the reopening of the Birtley Community Pool in Tyne and Wear, Prince William had a conversation with 2024 Paris Olympian Adam Peaty and Paralympians Maisie Summers-Newton and Louise Fiddes and Olympic swimmer Tom Dean.
Dean asked: “Did you manage to get out [to Paris]?” When Dean asked Prince William if he had managed to visit Paris, Prince William responded without hesitation. He explained that he had chosen not to travel to the French capital to protect his wife’s health.
The future King gave that clear and brutally honest answer that he “didn’t want to risk” contracting COVID amid his wife Kate Middleton’s chemotherapy treatment against an unnamed form of cancer.
The Prince of Wales confessed: “No, I was so keen to come, but I have to say after reading someone’s interview about COVID, I decided, because my wife was having chemo, that I didn’t want to risk bringing COVID home, so Adam very kindly reminded me that that was still a thing!”
He added: “But we watched the whole thing. We were glued to it every day.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales watched the games with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Prince William and Middleton did release a congratulatory video for the British team.
Some royal experts view Prince William’s decision to address a personal matter and decisively dispel rumors of being workshy and undeserving of the throne as a significant moment for the monarchy.
It is the clearest sign that the future King will not do things like his father or grandmother.
