Lily Collins, renowned for her role in Emily in Paris, has embarked on a joyous new chapter in her life as a mother, bringing a wave of happiness and excitement to her fans!
The actress took to Instagram to share her happy news with the world. It was positive yet somewhat surprising to some who said they were unaware she was pregnant.
The announcement included a heart-melting picture of the infant girl, Tove. The actress was honest in the caption about her journey to motherhood.
Collins revealed that she and her husband, Charlie McDowell, welcomed the baby girl with the aid of a surrogate. She also explained that she is very proud of the surrogate’s selflessness and sacrifice.
She wrote: “Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell. Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again…”
It was a heartwarming post, but for some strange reason, social media trolls, who spend too much time on the internet, decided there was nothing better than to attack the actress and her husband.
In a courageous move, Charlie McDowell stood up against the vicious attacks, garnering support and empathy from all who heard his powerful message.
He made it clear that he was prepared to defend his wife and newborn daughter, stressing that no one has the right to pass judgment on a couple’s unique and often challenging journey into parenthood.
While avoiding private details about the pregnancy, the screenwriter and film director stated that few people knew how difficult it was to have a child.
The One I Love director began by expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support and love they have received.
He wrote: “Thank you for all the kind messages and love. We are overjoyed and very grateful.”
McDowell went on to say: “In regards to the unkind messages about surrogacy and our path to having a baby— it’s ok to not be an expert on surrogacy. It’s ok to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child. It’s ok to not know the motivations of a surrogate regardless of what you assume.”
He concluded by: “And it’s ok to spend less time spewing hateful words into the world, especially in regards to a beautiful baby girl who has brought a lot of love into people’s lives. That’s all for now because she just pooped, and I need to change her diaper.”
Collins and McDowell decided not to discuss the exact reasons why they turned to surrogacy, and that is their right.
However, dozens of well-known celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Kim Kardashian, and Gabrielle Union, said that health and fertility issues led them to surrogacy because they were unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term.
