On Father’s Day, Deputy Bill Dunn became a hero who saved the life of a 3-year-old Florida girl who was left in a scorching hot car for almost 24 hours by the worst mother on the year.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputy can be seen in the shocking video running with the child and pleading with her to stay alive.
On June 17, Dunn was called to the scene where a child was left alone in a heated car by her drunk mother, Casey Dylan Keller.
According to the police report, Keller drove to a liquor store on June 16 to buy a few bottles of alcohol and forgot she had her daughter in the vehicle with her.
It seems that Keller went home after purchasing and drinking the alcoholic beverages leaving the child to pass out in the car.
In the cop’s dramatic rescue video, he can be seen carrying and running with the little girl and telling her: “It’s OK, baby. Talk to me! You’re OK.”
Talking to local media, Dunn said he feared the worse and added: “Sadly, I didn’t think she was alive when I got to her. I felt for a pulse; I didn’t feel a pulse.”
He revealed how he felt once discovering that she was still breathing: “Once the cold air hit her, that’s when I started noticing her eyes kind of fluttering.”
Dunn, who is also a father, took the little girl to the hospital and waited for over three hours at the emergency room until he was told that she is well.
Mr. Dunn revealed: “I remember one thing distinctively was my hand on her chest and feeling her heart racing. It was beating really, really, really fast.”
The unnamed child was released from the hospital and is currently living with her father.
Keller was arrested and charged with child neglect with great bodily harm.
She was locked up at the John E Polk Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail; it is not known if she has been released.
The girl’s father called Dunn to thank him for saving his daughter’s life.
