A former teacher from Arizona, Brittany Zamora, has received a harsh sentence for having a sexual relationship with one of her students, when the teacher was 28 years old and the student 13.
The woman will now have to spend the next 20 years in prison because of the incident and was very emotional in court upon receiving her sentence.
Zamora tried pleading to the court by explaining that she regretted the mistake she had made and would not repeat it.
She also pointed out that she had maintained a high level of respect for the law through her life, and did not see herself as a threat to society in any way.
The ex-educator stated: “I am a good and genuine person who made a mistake and regret it deeply. I lived my life respecting and trying to obey every law. I’m not a threat to society by any means.”
However, this did not seem to touch the judge presiding over the case, as the sentence was final.
The Goodyear teacher said that she is hoping to spend her time in prison getting a new degree so that she could start a fresh start once she has been released.

Reports indicate that the woman had even coerced another student into watching over her while she was having sexual contact with her young victim, using an 11-year-old friend of the boy as “guard” to get alerted if someone was coming.
The mother of the other child shared: “Ms. Zamora lures these boys, earns their trust and then takes advantage of them purely to fill her own sexual desires. She used her position of power to molest a child. She’s a pedophile and no different than if a man were sitting in her place right now.”
Many people in court appeared divided over the nature of the case, with some exclaiming that the sentence was far too harsh for what the woman had done and that she did not deserve so much.
On the other hand, others seemed to agree with the length of the sentence, claiming that the woman was a pedophile like any other.
One person online stated: “The way people treat sexual abuse when the victims are young boys sickens me. Everyone in this comment section is gross asf.”
A second commenter added: “Damn 20 years whoever gave her that much time was mad because they didn’t get a piece smh.”
A third individual explained: “How would y’all feel if it was a 13-year-old girl and a 28-year-old male teacher.”
Does society see abuse differently when it is a woman and a boy?
