Mariah Carey will not send Jennifer Lopez a Christmas gift for a while. The singers have had a long-running feud that spans over decades.
According to reports, it is not a dormant drama; Mariah Carey is still upset over Jennifer Lopez’s decision to work with her famous ex-husband and, therefore, has some feelings about the actress’ career misery.
Amid Lopez’s public and humiliating divorce battle with estranged husband, Ben Affleck, she was hit with a massive blow involving her musical career.
In support of her album, musical, and documentary that focused on her incredible love story with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez was hard at work on a massive world tour.
However, the shocking separation and possibly low ticket sales, reportedly affected by the ongoing divorce battle, forced Lopez to cancel the This Is Me… Live: The Greatest Hits tour. This was a significant blow to her career, as the tour was expected to be a major comeback.
According to a source, who spoke to In Touch, Carey reacted like many would expect her to have. The Christmas Queen will go on tour for the year-end holidays and enjoy a highly anticipated Las Vegas “Celebration of Mimi” residency. She is excited that she still has it musically, while Lopez does not.
The source told In Touch: “Mariah is really excited to be getting back to Vegas and looking forward to proving she’s still at the top of the game when it comes to putting on a show and bringing in ticket sales. She’s extra excited to show that she’s still got it after J. Lo had to go and cancel her concert tour.”
The insider claimed that Carey believed Lopez was hit by karma, forcing her to cancel her tour abruptly. The person in the know stated: “She believes it’s karma biting her in the butt because she’s not as talented as she thinks and way too arrogant. For J. Lo it’s a huge big kick in the teeth to Mariah making all these huge concert plans, especially because she knows how much she’s been trash talking to her and laughing about her divorce to boot.”
Another source revealed that Jennifer Lopez is a fighter, determined to return to the music industry once the dust settles, showcasing her resilience and unwavering spirit.
A close associate of Lopez shared, “Now, she will have to suffer the indignity of seeing Mariah take the stage. But J. Lo isn’t giving up, she’s hoping to pick herself up and get the tour back on track once all this mess dies down. And a big motivation will be going head-to-head with Mariah and competing for her holiday fan base. It’s hard to believe she’d think that far ahead, but that’s J. Lo for you. She always has a game plan.”
The singers’ animosity has deep roots, stretching back over decades. The saga between the artists erupted in 1999 after Jennifer Lopez signed a massive recording deal with Mariah Carey’s ex-husband, Tommy Mottola.
Mottola and Lopez also collaborated on multiple songs, including a controversy over Carey’s “Loverboy” being used as a sample in Lopez’s song “I’m Real.”
The boiling feud escalated in 2008 when Mariah Carey said, “I don’t know her,” when asked about Jennifer Lopez during an interview.
