Another horrific mass shooting has taken place in America, this time around in Oregon District in Dayton, Ohio — just hours after mass shooter Patrick Crusius took the lives of 20 people at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.
The shooter at the Ned Peppers bar in Dayton killed at least nine people and left 27 others injured. He reportedly did all of this in less than one minute. Those wounded have been taken to nearby hospitals — the extent of their injuries is not yet known.
The unnamed gunman has been shot and killed by Ohio police. The shooter wore body armor while on the killing spree.
The FBI is on the scene to help investigate.
In a statement issued by the Dayton Police Department, it was revealed that the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday in the area of East 5th Street in the Oregon District in Dayton.
The message posted by the Dayton Police Department on Twitter read: “We had officers in the immediate vicinity when this shooting began and were able to respond and put an end to it quickly.”
Assistant police chief Matt Carper said the following in a press conference: “…there was an “active shooter situation in the Oregon District…we had one shooter that we are aware of and multiple victims. Right now, the shooter is deceased from gunshot wounds from the responding officers. We have nine victims deceased in addition to that, and we have approximately 16 more victims hospitalized right now in unknown conditions…This is a very tragic incident.”
Many outraged Americans have taken to social media to say enough is enough.
One social media user had this reaction: “This is unbelievable! 2 Mass Shootings in less than 24 hours…speechless. I’m ashamed to be American. What will it take to stop this shit?! ??The truth is that if we have gun reform, our country is so divided in fear and hate that people who want to murder will find the means to do it regardless.”
Another person claimed: “But whenever a white man in this country commits an egregious crime, he’s just “troubled” or “suffering.”
This voter revealed: “I don’t believe the illegal gun situation can be stopped. It’s a machine that’s been in motion for years. Not even sure if more security, cameras and police officers can prevent tragedies like this from happening.”
A fourth commenter said racism played a part in the deadly shootings: “Racism blatantly the system is diseased from inside the rotten apple… institutionalized racism is a breeding ground for hate …manifesting in sick minded people taking GUNS into public places to KILL ….what civilized society allows GUNS in public with children…THEY NEED TO ?BAN GUNS ?… TO? STOP ?MURDER.?????? Rip beautiful souls taken by corrupt laws and diseased institutional minds which allow this MADNESS to continue without action by changing broken civil laws.”
Some have pointed out that President Donald Trump was in Ohio on Thursday and held a rally in Cincinnati.
