It is no secret that Billie Eilish is a fan of keeping her body under wraps, as she is frequently seen wearing oversized clothes that leave a lot to the imagination.
Recently, however, she has decided to take a stand against a problem that she sees as more and more pressing — body-shaming, by taking off her shirt during a concert at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
The act was shown on a big screen for all to see, focusing on Billie’s top covered by her bra along with the following poem: “You have opinions — about my opinions about my music about my clothes, about my body.
Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it, some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me, but I feel you watching — always — and nothing I do goes unseen.
So while I feel your stares, your disapproval, or your sigh of relief, if I lived by them, I’d never be able to move.
Would you like me to be smaller?
Weaker?
Softer?
Taller?
Would you like me to be quiet?
Do my shoulders provoke you?
Does my chest?
Am I my stomach?
My hips?
The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?
If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I’m a slut.
Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it.
Why?
We make assumptions about people based on their size.
We decide who they are, and we decide what they’re worth. If I wear more if I wear less, who decides what that makes me? What does that mean?
Is my value-based only on your perception?
Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?”
It looks like she has managed to draw a lot of attention to her cause with the seemingly simple move as well, as she has generated quite the discussion online, with many people chiming in with their own opinions.

And while many were supportive of her and expressed their strongest admirations, it looks like she has been a bit divisive with the move, as some have claimed that she has gone over the top and that kind of act had no place on the stage.
In the end, it does not seem like those statements have managed to phase Billie for the most part, as she remained nonchalant to the negative words, and instead chose to focus on the positive ones.
The singer has been known for quite a while for taking a strong stance on certain issues, and it seems like this one is no exception.
Hopefully, she will manage to get the kind of attention she has been hoping for, instead of steering the conversation in inappropriate directions.
Billie, who is reportedly working on a new album with her brother, Finneas O’Connell, has rescheduled her North American Where Do We Go? World Tour because of the coronavirus.
The young music star is urging her fans to be careful after taking this big step.
