As the recent season of The Bachelor came to a conclusion, the show has managed to generate quite the discussions, with many people joining in and talking about the implications of the final decision taken by Peter Weber.
Weber did not get engaged, (he was ready to propose to the only girl left, Hannah Ann Sluss, but that did not work out); he chose to date one of his contestants, Madison Prewett.
And while many seemed to be happy with the direction he has gone in, others appeared more disapproving, in particular Weber’s family, who have reportedly been at odds with him over his choice.
Peter’s mom, Barbara, made it very clear that she did not support the romance by saying: “He’s going to have to fail to succeed…all his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it’s not going to work, so we’ve been trying to help him.”
However, Weber has not shown any indication that he regrets his decision, and quite, on the contrary, he has been going forward with it one way or another.
The finale was hyped up significantly before it went live, with many previews portraying it as the most dramatic finale of the show to date.
And while this was a bit divisive among fans, with some claiming that the show did not live up to the massive expectations it had set, many were happy with the way things went down and praised the producers for their hard work.
In the end, it is not a typical way to end a season of this show — the choice to date one of the contestants casually instead of engaging is still a controversial one.
However, it is obvious that the producers themselves are happy with it and are not going to back down.
While this does leave some interesting questions in the air for the future of the production and what fans can expect from the next seasons, it is at least a good sign about the show’s integrity.
The romance between Prewett and Weber was short-lived, about 24 hours after appearing on television to profess their love to each other the two reality TV stars have split.
He shared a post on social media that said in part: “Madi and I have mutually decided not to pursue our relationship any further. Believe me, this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes the most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”
Sluss has developed her profile since the season started and she has grown on a lot of people. One backer stated: “You dodged a bullet with peter.. you are going to find someone so much better for you!! You better be at BIP!!!”
It is clear that she has a bright future.
