Despite the many years that have passed since her death, Princess Diana remains one of the most iconic and beloved figures in the royal family.
And many followers and experts of royal life continue to share interesting details about Diana, Princess of Wales, whenever something new comes up.
Recently, some conversations have been unearthed, and they reveal that things between her and Prince Charles were not exactly going well behind the scenes.
There might have been a lot of negativity in certain aspects of their lives earlier than previously thought.
Reports claim that Princess Diana was quite dissatisfied with her family life with Prince Charles, as he had not been very involved with the upbringing of Prince Harry.
Charles, Prince of Wales, may have remarked that he considered his work done once his wife had given birth to their second child and opted to focus on more private and career-related matters.
Paul Burrell, who worked as Princess Diana’s butler from 1987 till her passing in 1997, revealed the conversation that took place the day Prince Harry was born: “She said, ‘Are you pleased?’ [Charles] said, ‘I’m delighted. I now have an heir and a spare. She said, ‘Well, it’s an odd thing to say. Why are you dressed up?’ He said, ‘My work is done now. I’m off to the theatre with Camilla.’ Diana said, ‘I cried myself to sleep–knowing my marriage was over.'”
In a series of secretly recorded tapes that she sent to Andrew Morton, Diana revealed that Prince Charles was not thrilled when she gave birth to a second boy.
Diana said that Charles was pleased with having Prince William and wanted their second child to be a daughter.
Diana confessed: “I knew Harry was going to be a boy because I saw on the scan. Charles always wanted a girl. He wanted two children, and he wanted a girl. I knew Harry was a boy, and I didn’t tell him.”
The princess said that Charles made this inappropriate comment about baby Harry’s looks: “Oh God, it’s a boy.” Charles shared this joke: “He’s even got red hair!”
Some royal fans say these comments were not made public because of the royal family’s goal to maintain an air of elegance in the public sphere.
This does not seem to have worked out that well, in the long run, however, as many reports have come out in the years confirming that things were not that pretty behind the scenes or at least strongly implying it.
The dramatic death of Princess Diana did not help the situation either. It provoked even more questionable responses from many sides, especially from people following the situation from a close perspective.
