President Donald Trump, who is ill with the coronavirus, left the White House on board Marine One on Friday for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
On Saturday, First Lady Melania Trump, who was also struck with Covid-19, reportedly decided that she will not leave quarantine in the White House to visit her husband at the hospital.
A White House official explained to NBC the reason why Melania is staying in isolation: “She has COVID. That would expose the agents who would drive her there and the medical staff who would walk her up to him.”
Trump surprised and angered many people on Sunday when he left his hospital room at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, for what many are calling a Presidential “drive-by.”
Trump, who is being treated for Covid-19 with some powerful medications, including the steroid dexamethasone, briefly hit pause on his treatment to drive past and wave at a group of passionate MAGA supporters.
The 74-year-old President delighted his backers by having his motorcade drive slowly so he could be showered with love.
Social media quickly lit up with thousands of people blasting Trump for his dangerous outing, including numerous health experts.
Dr. James P. Phillips, the Chief of Disaster Medicine and Attending at Walter Reed, did not hold back when he decided to take to Twitter to slam Trump’s unannounced and unnecessary appearance.
He stated: “Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential “drive-by” just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die. For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity.”
Dr. Phillips went on to say: “That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof but hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play.”
Via social media, an angry voter stated: “My father had COVID and almost died, and we couldn’t see him the entire time he was in the hospital. “There are so many people who have died in hospitals without a family member present because they are allowed to have visitors and were quarantined, and the fool is going for a joy ride and not quarantined? ? That’s a slap in the face to all the families that lost loved ones due to COVID. SMH! Total disregard for human life!

This social media aficionado slammed Trump: “Smh he literally takes life as a joke. How you positive and out & about putting more ppl at risk, he doesn’t look, nor is he acting a bit sick. He’s faking, and it’s ridiculous… if that’s the case, I thought hydroxychloroquine(however you spell it) works… which one is it?”
This anti-Trump Instagrammer wrote: “His followers are not practicing social distance. he should have told them to return home and did some type of zoom event that is safer.”
