Before Prince Harry met Megan Markle, ran away from London to live in the blissful California sunset with his two children, he had a serious romance with Cressida Bonas.
Cressida Bonas, who in the past dated Prince Harry for close to two years, was ready to commit to a serious relationship with the royal, but he “ruined his chances” with his inappropriate behavior.
Cressida and the Duke of Sussex met back in 2012 and were instantly smitten with each other.
The romance got a lot of attention, and according to a source close to the actress, the royal blew the relationship after he was photographed playing billiards naked with a couple of companions in Las Vegas.
In addition, the paparazzi caught the young royal in the company of another female, and the controversial and humiliating photos were soon all over the Internet.
As a result, the actress was reportedly very “humiliated” and embarrassed by the scandal that rocked two continents.
A friend of the actress said: “Cressida saw a future with Harry, but then he went and embarrassed her like he did in Vegas. He clearly isn’t as serious about her as he had claimed to be in Necker, and it’s highly embarrassing. He’s ruined his chances now. She’s humiliated.”
Prince Harry was recently reminded of the Las Vegas blunder during his interview with actor Dax Shepard. During the conversation, the Hit and Run star stated that he only knew about Prince Harry because he was in “those awesome nude photos in Vegas” and thought, “This guy’s a party!”
The Duke of Sussex snapped back with, “I’m sure you’re constantly looking for other people to sort of balance out your own behavior, right?” but he also explained that the notorious photographs were taken shortly before his deployment in Afghanistan.
He continued: “[I was told] You need help. As a case of not weakness but “I don’t know how to deal with this. You’re unhinged, you’re not very well, go and seek help.”
Prince Harry confessed that his crazy night of partying, drinking, and doing drugs in Vegas stemmed from the fact that he knew he needed help but was running away from his issues.
He said: “…it had caused me to object and run away. Everyone of us will try to find some way to mask the actual feeling and try to feel different than how we actually feel. And it’s well, rule number one is when you actually want or feel as though someone needs help, telling them to their face “you need help,” is probably the best way for them to go: “Er no, no I don’t. Object, runaway. Delay or these kinds of things or go and drink or take drugs or whatever, you find different ways.”
The controversial snaps caused a huge scandal at the time, and it was reported that even Prince Charles was concerned for his youngest son, as the Duke of Wales allegedly questioned his progeny, “As it stands, son, it’s bearable, and we can manage it, but is there any more to come out?”.
Prince Harry and his ex-girlfriend remained close friends after their breakup. In 2018, Cressida Bonas attended the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
In 2020, Bonas married Harry Wentworth-Stanley, a wealthy investor who is the stepson of George Mountbatten.
The wedding ceremony took place in West Sussex.
