It appears that King Charles III and mobile phones do not go hand in hand. On September 8, Queen Elizabeth II died, and it took several hours for King Charles to eventually reach Prince Harry because he did not have a cell phone.
It has now been revealed that Meghan Markle‘s husband is not the only member of the royal family who strays away from technology.
Royal author Katie Nicholl told Palace Confidential that King Charles is not too keen on technology, which often left his two sons irritated.
The expert revealed that Prince William and his younger brother struggled to get in touch with their father. After all, he refused to carry a mobile phone because he was disgusted by it.
According to the British commentator King Charles “could not bear” the gadget and relied on his aides to make and receive calls.
Nicholl said: “Well, there is a story in that, which you have just triggered my memory on; I was told by one of Charles’ aides that one of [his sons] was trying to reach him; this is quite a few years ago when they were younger, and wanted to get a hold of him. ”
She went on to repeat what Camilla Parker Bowles has confirmed about her husband — he is a workaholic handling a multi-billion family empire and is rarely home.
The expert stated that King Charles made the decision not to have a mobile phone for this reason: “But Charles did not carry a mobile phone around, he could not bear the things, so when [his sons] wanted to check something, it always had to be through an aide. I think there were times when they got a bit frustrated by not being able to reach him. And he worked round the clock as well.”
Royal biographer Penny Junor went on to say that King Charles was more of a “remote figure” than a father to Prince Harry and Prince William when they were younger.
King Charles unwillingly overlooked his children because he was heavily focused on his work and was determined to make the world a better place.
She shared: “That’s not a product of a lack of love. It’s a product of the fact he is so focused on his work and the need to make a difference in the world that, like many people who are seeking to make a difference in the world, he has sometimes overlooked friends and loved ones beside him.”
King Charles made a surprising choice.
