It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have some strict parenting values when it comes to entertainment, as they have been doing their best to keep their baby boy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, from spending too much time watching television.
Instead, they have been trying to take him out on for walks and social events as possible, though they have reportedly been facing some difficulties on that front due to the pandemic.
According to reports, both Harry and Meghan seem to agree that their child needs to spend a lot of time outdoors and have made it their goal to push him in that direction.
A royal insider explained: “They are against their only child watching too much TV. Harry and Meghan think it’s important for him to be outdoors as much as possible. They are in the process of updating the outside play area in the backyard of their new Santa Barbara home.”
The source continued: “Obviously, he’s way too young to play sports, but Harry’s already trying to teach him to kick a ball. One of Archie’s favorite toys is his ball set. He’s [also] obsessed with the dogs and loves playing fetch with them.”
The Duke of Sussex has confirmed that he is taking part in outdoor activities with his son.
In a video chat in honor of the Rugby Football League’s 125th birthday, Harry made this sweet confession: “What I need is a few mini rugby balls that I can then get Archie involved with the game because at the moment, it’s impossible to find any. But I’ve got a little space outside, which I’m fortunate enough to have, so I need to get him playing some Rugby League.”
The power couple has also been watching closely over their son during these times to ensure that he enjoys his childhood while also staying safe.
Some commenters have pointed out that it might be slightly irresponsible of the two to spend so much time outside and among other people in the current situation.
However, likely, the pair does not have to visit the same places everyone else does and is probably in a good position to maintain their distancing and privacy while still getting plenty of outdoor time.
It is not clear if their anti-TV policy is something they intend on maintaining in the future as well. Note that Meghan is also against having any kind of social media presence. She compared obsessive social media users to drug addicts.
The parents have received lots of positive responses to that particular aspect of their parenting.
