On June 4th, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be celebrating a joyous occasion — Lilibet Diana, their only daughter, will be one year old.
And according to reports that have surfaced, Queen Elizabeth II would be delighted if she could finally meet her great-granddaughter in person and possibly celebrate her birthday with her.
It would be a double celebration for Her Majesty as she will be marking her Platinum Jubilee or 70 years on the throne with the usual British fanfare, including parades, parties, and other lavish ceremonies.
This week, a royal expert revealed that sources told him that Queen Elizabeth is more than eager to spend time with the baby girl she has only met via Zoom.
Lilibet Diana was born last summer in California, where she resides with her parents and older brother, Archie.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle called the West Coast home since they stepped down from their royal duties in early 2020.
Via his legal team, the Duke of Sussex revealed that he has not traveled to his home country with his family because of security issues.
He has filed a lawsuit against the Queen’s government for refusing to let him pay for the proper protection he requires when he and his loved ones are traveling abroad.
As Prince Harry and his spouse sort out the complicated matter, a royal source has revealed that Queen Elizabeth has reached the point that she believes it is now urgent to see her great-granddaughter.
Note that Lilibet, nine months, carries Queen Elizabeth’s special nickname and is the only great-grandchild the monarch has yet to meet.
Her Majesty has a total of 11 great-grandchildren, and three of them are around the same age as Lilibet Diana.
According to Brian Hoey, author and royal watcher, her Majesty is looking forward to the special meeting.
He told Express: “I have heard from people I know within the Royal Household she really would desperately like to see the baby in this way. I think she would love to, I wonder whether it is going to happen, I would love to think it could.”
The royal author explained that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should make an effort for the aging Queen to bond with Lilibet because it would be great for her morale after her health issues.
It would also benefit the British people — it would send strong messages of forgiveness and family unity.
He revealed: “Yes, it would. It would be a very easy thing for the rift to be healed between them.”
He also addressed the tension and divide between the Sussex couple and the royal family.
The royal observer said that things might not be as bad as it seems and added: “It may not be as bad as we on the outside think it is anyway. I am absolutely sure the Queen holds no feelings of disapproval towards Harry and Meghan, none whatsoever. She would certainly welcome them back if they came.”
The royal expert might be correct because in multiple public statements in the past months, Queen Elizabeth showered Prince Harry and Markle with praises and explained that they would remain family.
In the controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, both Prince Harry and the retired actress had loving words for Elizabeth II.
The sovereign and Prince Harry are still close despite his decision to step down as a senior royal.
It has been claimed that the Queen and the Duke have a great relationship which is why he paid tribute to her, naming his only daughter after her.
