The world has been waiting for a glimmer of hope when it comes to a reunion between Prince William and Prince Harry.
According to an experienced royal expert, there are only a few major events that can fix the shattered relationship between the brothers — and they are not happy ones.
In a new interview, Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, revealed the fraternal fissure is so deep that only devastating events could bring them back together again.
If one of the brothers divorced their respective wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, the princes would reconnect.
Or if they suffered a heartbreaking loss, Harry and William would put their differences aside and be present for each other.
Seward explained: “I rather doubt that they will ever get back to how they used to be. I really don’t think so. I think that’s probably a broken relationship. I think perhaps if something happened to Catherine or Meghan, the boys would be together again. But as long as their ladies are there and their families are there…”
The biographer said this while appearing on the Mirror’s Pod Save The Queen podcast: “If there was an awful tragedy it would bring them together, but otherwise, I don’t think that relationship will be mended. But that is a really personal point of view and I might not be right.”
Seward is not the only royal expert who believes that the fallout between Prince William and Prince Harry may have permanent consequences.
Historian Robert Lacey spoke to The Daily Mail about the messy situation between Queen Elizabeth‘s grandsons by saying: “Meghan and Kate actually got on rather well from the start. They might not be best-buddy material, but they found themselves, sister-outsiders in their extraordinary royal situation, and both of them cool professionals, treating each other with mutual respect. Each was far too canny to make an enemy of a prospective sister-in-law – it only made sense to be friends.”
He continued: “The fundamental conflict was between the two males who had known each other all their lives and had never hesitated to tell each other exactly what they thought and felt.”
Despite all that has transpired between the pair, some royal fans believe that damage to the brothers’ relationship can be repaired in the future.
However, with Prince Harry enjoying life in California with his family, a reunion seems very unlikely at this time.
