Actor Matthew McConaughey has angered many who are now calling for him to be canceled after sharing his thoughts on all things political.
Critics are claiming that McConaughey is a closeted Donald Trump supporter and others say they will not support him if he ever runs for Governor of Texas.
McConaughey sat down for an interview with British comedian Russell Brand. He explained why he views Hollywood stars as liberals who look down on regular people who backed President Trump. He is preaching for an “aggressively centrist” attitude.
McConaughey, the Minister of Culture for the University of Texas, also revealed that the “liberal left” is somewhat responsible for the country’s political division.
The award-winning actor originally appeared on the podcast to promote his book, Greenlights, but the main conversation was about all that has transpired since the 2020 presidential election after Brand asked him: “Do you notice condemnation and criticism of ordinary working people?”
The British comedian continued: “There is a kind of an offhandedness, of like, ‘Oh, they’re dumb, they’re voting for Brexit, they’re voting for Trump.”
The Dazed and Confused actor responded by: “I’m not too fond of it, and I don’t like to hear it. This is where the left misses it for me, just as far as being a political side’s marketeer. You say, ‘Hey, we want to get out the vote. We want people to go vote. We’re going to do a campaign to let people vote.’ I’m like, 100 percent. Yes, everyone. Is there anyone who would say no to that? That’s universal. You have 100 percent of the audience going, ‘I’m in. That’s a constitutional right as an American, and I’m in. Yes!'”
I feel bad for @McConaughey children who are mixed race but will always be a minority. To have a dad that doesnt understand racism or the dangers they face that he doesnt is sad #MatthewMcConaughey

McConaughey blamed the liberals for the lack of compromises in Washington. He also claimed that Democrats had the wrong attitude when Trump won in 2016.
McConaughey revealed: “Many people, I’m sure you saw it, in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that it was real. Some of them were in absolute denial.”
McConaughey also called out the Republicans pushing the false claims about voter fraud.
I don’t know bout #MatthewMcConaughey but I don’t meet in the middle with racists, misogynists, xenophobes, power abusers, child kidnappers, evidenced criminal Presidents or those that support them. I stay in my lane, invite all in & if they refuse, I just keep moving forward.

The Oscar winner said that it is time for the right to accept that President-elect Joe Biden won the November election.
He stated: “It looks like Biden’s our guy. Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial because their side has fake news. And I understand. They’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense.”
McConaughey concluded by saying that the left needs to take the middle-of-the-road approach and stop making offensive remarks such as “look at us in Hollywood going, ‘Another celebrity over there, West Coasters and the elites in the northeast.’ The left will have to understand the science of ‘meet you in the middle.'”
McConaughey recently spoke with PEOPLE and confessed that he does have politics on his mind.
And just like that…#MatthewMcConaughey ended his career. I'll never support anyone that can't accept holding a$$holes accountable!

He shared: “I’ve had many discussions about that. I’m not saying no, but I don’t know that that’s the category or the avenue where I can be most myself and maybe hopefully do the most amount of good. I got a hunch that somewhere it lies closer in this Ministry of Culture work, which is a whole different category. If anything, it rides the slipstream right down the middle of the aisle of partisanship, which is based on my belief and understanding of the value of our values. I think that’s what we’re missing most as a people, a mutual understanding of each other, a respect for ourselves, respect for each other.”
Some are wondering if McConaughey is laying the groundwork for an Independent political platform.
