After taking part in numerous events without a mask or any social distancing, President Donald Trump‘s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has contracted coronavirus.
On Sunday, the former New York City mayor was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center, according to several media outlets.
CNN’s White House Correspondent Jeremy Diamond, who first reported the news, said on a live segment: “Well, Wolf [Blitzer], it was just three hours ago the president tweeted that Rudy Giuliani had indeed tested positive for the coronavirus and now a person familiar with the matter tells me Giuliani was admitted to the hospital today here in Washington, D.C., at Georgetown University Hospital.”
It is not known when he was given the test, and there were no details on his condition at the time. Giuliani, 76, is at increased risk of severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19.
While there are several vaccines on the verge of being distributed, Johns Hopkins University is reporting some alarming numbers.
Thus far, more than 280,000 Americans have died because of the novel coronavirus and 15 million cases have been confirmed.
The consequences of the Thanksgiving travel rush across states, family gatherings, and disregard of the COVID-19 guidelines are dire. Data shows that COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have been on the rise.
In a tweet, President Trump confirmed that Giuliani is ill and wished him a speedy recovery. He wrote: “@RudyGiuliani, by far the greatest mayor in the history of NYC, and who has been working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA, has tested positive for the China Virus. Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!!”
The lawyer’s son, Andrew Giuliani, who is a public liaison assistant to Trump, revealed that he had COVID-19 and decided to go into quarantine.
Like his father, Andrew ignored the health guidelines while making public appearances. A long list of people with ties to Trump has contracted the disease in recent months.
Trump, 74, was hospitalized in October at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after being hit with the coronavirus.
Giuliani has been working overtime, taking part in wild lawsuits, interviews, and press conferences to push the false claims that the presidential election was rigged, votes were deleted.
He recently sat down with Maria Bartiromo where he said: “In every one of those states, we have more than enough illegal ballots already documented to overturn the result in that state. They didn’t allow Republicans in those key places to observe the mail vote. That makes the mail vote completely invalid.”
He added: “We already have enough affidavits from people who were pushed out from being able to observe, so in each one of those states that he lost narrowly, he won those states probably by 2, 3 percent.”
Giuliani went on to talk about the evidence that he has but would not say what they are. He stated: “We have proof that I can’t disclose yet, the corrupt machines. This has to be examined, Maria, beyond this election, which I believe will get overturned.”
Late Sunday evening, Giuliani shared a tweet to give an update on his health. He wrote: “I’m getting great care and feeling good. Recovering quickly and keeping up with everything. Thank you to all my friends and followers for all the prayers and kind wishes.”
Andrew had this to say about his father: “My Dad @RudyGiuliani is resting, getting great care, and feeling well. Thank you to all the friends who have reached out concerned about his well being.”
Giuliani is one of the top backers of the President.
