George Clooney Sacrificed A Lot For This Movie And Critics Are Not Sure It Was Worth It

George Clooney The Midnight Sky Movie Beard Weight Loss

George Clooney went maybe too far for his new movie, and there were dire consequences. The famous actor and filmmaker recently confessed to going all in for his latest project, The Midnight Sky.

As the star and director of the film, he decided it was necessary to lose about 28 pounds. The father of two shed the weight rapidly and dangerously, which led to him falling terribly ill and needing hospitalization.

The father of two spoke with the UK’s Mirror and revealed his part in the post-apocalyptic movie. Clooney takes on the role of a lonely astronaut named Augustine in the Arctic who finds himself desperately seeking a way to let other astronauts in space know that they should not come down on earth after a mysterious global catastrophe hits it.

During the interview with the British publication, the activist said after drastically shedding the pounds, he was struck with severe pain days before he was due to start filming.

Clooney said that he was rushed to a hospital where doctors diagnosed him with pancreatitis. Clooney revealed:
“I think I was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself.”

The 59-year-old went on to say: “It took a few weeks to get better, and as a director, it’s not so easy because you need energy. We were out on this glacier in Finland, which made it a lot harder work. But it certainly helped with the character.”

Clooney also opened up about his giant and fuzzy beard and revealed that his wife, Amal Clooney, was not a fan.

He stated: “I grew a big ugly beard, and my son loved it because he’d hide things in it, which I wouldn’t know about until I got to work and I’d be like, ‘Oh, there’s a popsicle stuck in my beard.’ But my wife and daughter were really happy when it came off because it was very hard to find a face underneath all that mess.”

The Clooneys, including their twins — Alexander and Ella, 3 — have bunkered down for quarantine in the Hollywood Hills.

He stated: “We really haven’t moved since February. It’s easier in Los Angeles because it’s not raining and snowing, so it’s a lot easier to walk out in the street.”

The actor said that he has been keeping busy by doing chores and added: “Laundry and moping and dishes. I wood stained the entire house. Probably not, but it kept me busy for a while. It kept me out of the room with the kids speaking Italian.”

Unfortunately, Clooney’s hard work and sacrifice and his decision to frustrate his wife with his beard did not pay off because The Midnight Sky is not amongst the top films of 2020.

It got a 58 percent critics’ score from 36 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
