Jennifer Lopez recently revealed that she and her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, would have tied the knot over the summer in Italy, had it not been for the coronavirus pandemic.
Their lavish wedding had been planned to take place in Italy in June 2020, but as the COVID-19 crisis took hold across Europe and Italy became the epicenter for the virus, the couple knew they had to cancel and rearrange their big day.
Speaking on the radio show, Radio Andy, with host Andy Cohen, 51-year-old J-Lo shared the disappointment she and 45-year-old A-Rod had felt at not being able to have their wedding as planned, but the singer remained positive as she told listeners that everything happens in its own time.
The couple has been together since February 2017 and announced their engagement in March 2019 after Mr. Rodriguez proposed to the “I’m Real” singer during a day out at the beach.
After canceling their June wedding, J-Lo and A-Rod hoped they could rearrange the wedding a few months later, but as 2020 unfolded, they soon began to see that it might not be possible at all this year.
Radio host Andy Cohen suggested that the pair might end up like Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, who have been together since 1983 but never married.
Lopez replied to say that the drastic change of plan did make her think about whether they needed to get married, but that it ultimately comes down to individuals and what they would prefer to do.
She confessed: “Oh yeah, we’ve talked about that for sure. I mean, at our age, we’ve both been married before, it’s like, do we get married? Do we not? What does it mean for us? And it’s just, it comes down to like personal, like, what do you want to do?”
The singer and fashion designer who has recently starred in films Marry Me and Shotgun Wedding — prompting speculation among fans — also said that there is no rush for her and Rodriguez to get married, and things will happen when they happen.
She concluded by: “There’s definitely no rush, though. It was really sad because we were supposed to get married in June and we had planned it all. So in March or April, we’re looking down the pipe, and we’re going, ‘This is maybe not going to happen.”
In the meantime, the legendary entertainer continues to bless fans with epic photos of herself on social media.
