Meghan Markle’s Ex-Husband, Trevor Engelson, Throws Himself Under The Bus While Reflecting On Their Failures

Meghan Markle Ex-Husband Trevor Engelson Talentless Director

Meghan Markle‘s ex-husband, Trevor Engelson, has spoken about his own career in Hollywood, where he landed a job as a producer after believing he did not have the “talent” to be a director.

Engelson reportedly threw himself under the bus by saying: “I realized you needed the talent to do that, so that was out of the window.”

The Duchess of Sussex was married to Trevor Engelson from 2011 until they were granted a divorce in 2013.

And in Andrew Morton‘s book — Meghan: A Hollywood Princess — Engelson had thought a directing career was “out of the window” after doubting his own abilities to succeed when he first set out in Hollywood.

Before working alongside producer Nick Osborne, he became a talent agent who later founded production company Underground, which Engelson took over in 2011 after building the company with Osborne.

However, when he met Meghan Markle in a bar when he was 25 years old, the pair were both struggling to make it big in Hollywood — Markle as a struggling actress and Engelson working as an assistant and trying to land his own big break.

They began dating in 2004 and lived together in Los Angeles before getting married seven years later in Jamaica.

However, when Meghan Markle landed her significant role on the TV series Suits and relocated to Toronto for the filming, their marriage hit the rocks.

When they divorced in 2013, the reason given was “irreconcilable differences.”

According to Morton’s book, it had been a bone of contention that Engelson did not do more to advance Markle’s career.

Movie parts often went to experienced actresses, and Markle was a new actress at the time who had experience playing smaller parts.

Author Andrew Morton wrote: “Meghan secretly hoped there would be a role for her, but the bit-parts that might have suited her went to more experienced actresses who had worked with the director Ken Kwapis on the TV series The Office. It was to become a source of conflict between the couple, Meghan becoming disappointed that Trevor didn’t try harder to include her in some of his productions.”

Both Meghan Markle and Trevor Engelson went on to marry different people, with Markle marrying Prince Harry in 2018 and Engelson tying the knot with his current wife, Tracey Kurland, the following year.

With the royal, Markle is set to become a major player in the entertainment industry, thanks to a deal with streaming giant Netflix.
