Queen Elizabeth II extended an olive branch to her grandson, Prince Harry, in a touching tribute to her late husband, Prince Philip, on social media this week.
The Twitter account of the British Royal Family posted a photo collage of Prince Philip with family members throughout the years. A picture with the Duke of Sussex is included.
The same goes for Prince William, Prince Charles, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice. While Kate Middleton made a small cameo in the collection of images, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, is not featured.
This was enough for some observers to say that leaving Meghan out of the mix was a missed opportunity to bring real peace to the royal family after the bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Defenders of the British monarchy say that everything is not about Meghan, especially after she stepped down from her post as a working member of the royal family to enjoy her privacy in California.
Moreover, backers of the Queen pointed out that Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew were also not included in the montage. Additionnally, most of the spouses were not featured in the message.
The loving caption accompanying the pictures read: “Today, members of the Royal Family have shared photographs of The Duke of Edinburgh, remembering him as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.”

Prince Harry and his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, showed some unity at Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday.
It was the first time the two siblings met after the controversial sit-down with Oprah where Harry and Meghan said that a member of the family said racist things about their son, Archie, before he was even born.
The power couple also said that the other royals failed to show support as she dealt with serious mental health issues.
Some nuanced voices say it will take more time for Meghan to repair things with other members of the royal family because she did not spend enough time in the UK to build strong bonds with them.
Insiders also say that the Queen is taking her time with Meghan, and they have been in contact after Prince Philip’s death.
Her Majesty even understands why she could not be there for the funeral. The former actress is pregnant with her second child, and she is expected to give birth in June.
A source stated: “It was always a given that Harry would return to England for his grandfather’s passing. Meghan expressed condolences. The Queen understands why she can’t travel at the moment.”
Prince Charles is expected to meet with his son on Sunday for some frank exchanges.
