Prince William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, met face-to-face, walked side-by-side, and spoke while attending Prince Philip‘s funeral earlier this month.
However, most royal insiders have revealed that they are still not on the best of terms because of the many shocking revelations that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made during their controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Despite being on different pages, many assumed that Prince Harry and Prince William would come together to unveil a statue commissioned in honor of their mother, the late Princess Diana.
The royal family will be present for the special tribute set to take place at Kensington Palace on July 1, which would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday.
However, according to a royal expert, there is a possibility that Prince Harry might skip the trip in another sign that the brothers’ bond and relationship is continuing to deteriorate since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties and moved to California with their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Royal expert Russell Myers revealed that Prince Harry might cancel his travel plans after the frosty reception that he received during his brief stay in London for his grandfather’s funeral.
It appears that Prince Harry was surprised by the fact that many royal family members shunned him.
It is claimed that his aunt, Anne, Princess Royal, shunned him because he accused her of making racist comments about Archie.
The royal editor of the Daily Mirror explained: “Some quarters of the family did give him a frosty reception, and perhaps that did shock him somewhat.”
Kevin O’Sullivan added: “Harry looked very out of sorts during his stay. I’m wondering whether he received a very, very cold reception? I read that some quarters of the royal family literally just blocked him and didn’t even talk to him. I think he may have been a bit shocked by the cool reception he got from his family, which begs the question, will he come back for the unveiling of the Diana memorial with his brother in July? Or will he pull out of that?”
Myers went on to say that Prince Harry might use the birth of his baby girl to abandon the project.
He revealed: “I’m told he is still committed to coming. Both camps are. Indeed, Kate and William will welcome him if he wants to come back. His intention is to come back. One may wonder, if his wife has just had a baby, I’m sure he could jump on a private jet and made a flying visit. But will it be a convenient excuse, so he doesn’t have to come back and face the family?”
He went on to say that Prince Harry will continue to receive bad news and backlash from his sit-down with Oprah for the foreseeable future and added: “I think a lot will determine what happens in the interim period. Some quarters of the family did give him a frosty reception, and perhaps that did shock him somewhat. I don’t think we will realize the fallout of that Oprah Winfrey interview for some time. Maybe once we get back to a bit of normality, the rest of the family will start thinking about that a bit more carefully. It might not be good news for Harry.”
Some royals fans say Prince William should not embarrass and humiliate himself by attending the event alone. Instead, he should cancel or postpone it for after he has made peace with Prince Harry.
Myers concluded by saying that the many leaks to the American media from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s side are “causing quite a bit of distress in the Royal Family.”
Recently, royal author Anna Pasternak revealed that Meghan Markle is in the same situation as her husband; she would not be showered with love if she steps foot in England after bashing the monarchy.
She said that the former actress might never return to England and added: “Will Meghan Markle return to the UK? My speculative answer would be no, not if she can help it. Sadly, I cannot see her ever becoming a loved and cherished member of the Royal Family with the unified respect and adoration of the British people. I think that ship has sailed.”
Pasternak also revealed the following: “Many people feel the interview was a total lack of respect for the monarchy and, in a sense, for the British. Because the monarchy is part of the British psyche, so this monarchy bashing can also be viewed as British bashing.”
Prince Harry will have to make some tough choices in the upcoming months.
