Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, celebrated their third wedding anniversary this week, and by all accounts, the power couple is happy and in love.
It is claimed that the pair exchanged personal and sentimental gifts for the special occasion. However, the news of marital bliss is followed by the report that the Duchess of Sussex and her husband are butting heads over a big event.
The couple is getting ready to welcome their second child — a baby girl next month. There is a possibility that Meghan Markle might give birth around Prince Diana‘s birthday.
It was first reported that the activists had opted not to have a baby shower for their royal baby girl. It appears that they took that decision after the disastrous headlines and the multiple eye rollings that took place in The Palace after Meghan Markle decided to attend an almost $500,000 baby shower that her celebrity friends threw for the arrival of baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
A source claimed that the Sussexes decided not to have a fancy baby shower this time around because there is a global pandemic going on, and they would instead do something more meaningful to mark the arrival of their second child.
Prince Harry and the former actress had plans to donate and put the spotlight on a charitable cause that is near and dear to their hearts.
A source revealed to Us Weekly via Vanity Fair: “Meghan doesn’t feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now. There is too much strife in the world. She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose.”
However, it now seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not agree with their previous agreement.
According to a royal insider, Meghan Markle would like a private baby shower in the backyard of her California mansion with a few close friends and family members.
The pregnant philanthropist believes that she deserves a small celebration after the hellish year she has been through after stepping down from her royal duties, the wars with her family and the media, not to mention the online assault she has been facing by angry royal fans who feel that she deserted them.
The insider told WHO via The Mirror: “Meghan and Harry don’t lock horns much, but they struggled to get on the same page over their little girl’s baby shower.”
The source went on to say: “Meghan argued that she deserved a party. They’ve been through hell and back escaping England with Archie, and she’s starting to feel very settled with a good core group of girlfriends with kids around her.”
However, Prince Harry strongly disagrees with the idea of having a party because he thinks it will be ill-perceived to be celebrating in the midst of the pandemic.
This week, a documentary aired and explained that people inside The Palace saw the baby shower that Meghan Markle had in New York as “trashy” and “rolled their eyes” at the celebrities who attended it.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said in A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown via the Daily Mail: “They walked in through the front entrance carrying these enormous bags from the most expensive shops in New York. Crowds gathered because they were all celebrities; there was Gayle King from CBS, Serena Williams, and Amal Clooney.”
Meghan Markle’s pal and royal expert Omid Scobie added: “I remember speaking to a palace aide at the time who rolled their eyes; they were horrified that something so common was happening within the House of Windsor. We had never seen someone throw this very lavish affair to celebrate the impending arrival of a baby.”
Prince Harry is still trying to mend fences with his family.
