It is now certain that the firstborn child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, will not become a prince once his grandfather, Prince Charles, becomes the King of the United Kingdom.
Recently, the Prince of Wales voiced his intentions to slim down the monarchy when he ascends the throne directly to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and they were quick to retaliate.
Prince Charles will make sure that only direct heirs to the throne and their immediate families receive full titles and the financial and security benefits that come with that honor.
It was alleged that the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II has firmly decided that the number of senior royals should be reduced. Therefore, Archie will not be given the prince title despite being the grandson of the future King.
The source revealed: “Charles has never made any secret of the fact that he wants a slimmed-down Monarchy when he becomes King. He realizes that the public don’t want to pay for a huge Monarchy and, as he said, the balcony at Buckingham Palace would probably collapse.”
According to a royal insider, the Prince of Wales already shared with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that he would make whatever legal changes necessary to ensure that their son would never be a Prince. The couple supposedly went livid upon hearing the news.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle apparently believed that Archie would become a prince with the ascension of Prince Charles, and because of that, they previously declined for their son to be made the Earl of Dumbarton.
It was revealed that the two former senior royals were informed that their son would never be a prince shortly before their controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, which took place in March.
Apparently, the news that Archie will not be given the coveted title was one of the reasons why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were so distraught with the British royal family during their conversation with Oprah Winfrey.
The announcement from Prince Charles explained why Meghan Markle complained during her bombshell interview with the media mogul.
The former actress said: “They [the Royal Family] were saying they didn’t want him to be a Prince or a Princess.”
She continued: “You know, the other piece of that convention is, there’s a convention – I forget if it was George V or George VI convention – that when you’re the grandchild of the monarch, so when Harry’s dad becomes King, automatically Archie and our next baby would become Prince or Princess, or whatever they were going to be… But also, it’s not their right to take it away.”
A person familiar with the situation explained: “This is what nobody realized from the interview. The real thing was that Charles was going to take active steps to strip Archie of his ultimate birthright.”
Prince Harry recently traveled to London for an event honoring Princess Diana and did not meet with his father.
