A brilliant woman named Wendy Martinez, 35, was brutally murdered while jogging in Logan Circle, Washington D.C. on Tuesday night.

Just last week, the tech executive, also known as Wendy Karina Martinez, was floating on air after her longtime boyfriend, Daniel Hincapie, got on one knee and proposed.

In a press conference, Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham said the 35-year-old was attacked by a black man wearing an unusually long mustard-colored shirt, sweatpants, white socks, and sandals.

The authorities believe that the man randomly went after Martinez possibly to rob her.

The criminal stabbed the woman several times in the neck before fleeing the scene of the crime. The knife used in the deadly attack has been found in the area.

Video surveillance showed Martinez fighting for her life and suffering from multiple serious stabs as she stumbled in front of a nearby Chinese restaurant.

The manager of the restaurant and several patrons rushed to help Martinez who had blood gushing from a laceration to her neck.

Miss Martinez was taken to a nearby hospital where she died from her wounds.

Talking to local media, the manager said: “I was so scared. I don’t know what happened to her, and I try to call the police.”

Martinez’s mourning family issued a statement saying that she was a woman of faith who loved to run and take part in physical activities.

The parents of the woman said they cannot wrap their heads around the idea that instead of a wedding they will now be planning a funeral.

The statement read: “Wendy Karina Martinez was the light of our lives. Not only was she an avid runner, but she was a devout Christian, a wonderful and kind friend, and a driven professional. Everything you hoped that a daughter and a friend could be. She was also excited to be planning her upcoming wedding to her new fiancé, Daniel Hincapie. They were engaged just last week.”

Martinez graduated from Georgetown University and was the chief of staff at FiscalNote, a technology company.

The police have released a video of the suspect and are asking the public for help.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a $25,000 reward for information or the whereabouts of the killer.
