Prince William and the rest of the Royal Family no longer have to do any heavy lifting; Prince Harry has decided to make the point for them loud and clear.
While in England to wrap up his court case against the British government over his police protection arrangement, Prince Harry asked members of his security team to relay a message to his brother, Prince William, and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
Prince Harry told the Wales couple he was interested in meeting with them and attempting to reconcile. Prince William was smart and quick to shut down the request.
Prince Harry also tried to visit his ailing father, King Charles III, but he was denied because His Majesty did not want to be dragged into his son’s security rows.
A royal insider told Page Six: “Harry messaged Charles, but he never heard back. He wanted to talk to his dad about security stuff then, but his dad wouldn’t speak to him. He really felt like his dad could overturn things.”
Days after his family turned him away, Prince Harry foolishly confirmed that his brother and father were right to keep him at arm’s length by sitting down with the BBC, where he spilled his gut out to the public.
After the airing of his brother’s grievances, Prince William explained what is truly at the heart of his estrangement from his sibling — a lack of trust.
According to a source close to the future King of England who spoke to Page Six, there is room for him to eventually forgive Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for bashing the Royal Family.
However, what they can never ever do is trust them again. The royal insider told the media outlet: “I genuinely think nobody trusts him, and that’s the bottom line. The royal family has major trust issues with him and that’s what’s at the heart of everything. They don’t trust him and Meghan, and that’s why they can’t have a relationship … maybe there’s room to forgive, but they won’t forget.”
The family friend insisted that there is a significant difference between forgiveness and trust — while one can be given, the other has to be earned.
Prince Harry is not making any efforts to gain the latter. The source shared that Prince Harry’s words carry a profound weight, signifying the end of an era with Prince William, who will never forgive him.
The insider stated: “Forgiveness and trust are two different things.” Hugo Vickers, author and Royal Family friend, discussed the matter with Page Six.
He stated that Prince Harry’s urge to run to the media is more profound than some might believe and added: “I have total sympathy with the royal family. Harry is quite like this mother [the late Princess Diana]. One day, when I was at Buckingham Palace, I was shown the letter that Prince Phillip wrote to Diana in which he said, ‘Every time Charles talks to you, it’s in the Daily Mail the next day. The same thing is happening now. Charles is, of course, right not to trust him. Harry is hopeless in that respect. He shouldn’t have given that interview — but none of the royal family should ever give interviews; it’s always a car crash.”
Prince Harry will have to put the drama behind him.
