Desiree Castaneda will certainly not win the mother of the year award, according to some people. The Oklahoma woman was arrested after her child gave birth.
The name of the pre-teen was not revealed to the public. Castaneda’s 12-year-old daughter welcomed a baby into the world with the 24-year-old man who impregnated her by her side.
Castaneda is not the only one behind bars; the girl’s rapist was also apprehended by the authorities. According to a statement released by the Tulsa Police Department, in mid-July, Juan Miranda-Jara was in shock when police apprehended him.
The man was left confused by his arrest because, for several months, he had been parading his relationship with the girl on social media.
He posted numerous photos on Facebook with the girl, revealed that they were dating and she was expecting his child.
The adult male was embraced by the girl’s family and was present during a baby shower, according to pictures that were posted on social media.
On July 14, he was at the Hillcrest Hospital when the girl went into labor, and according to eyewitnesses, the duo looked like a normal couple and was happy to have their first child together.
Hospital staff members called the police upon discovering the age of the girl who had delivered the baby.
When questioned by the police, he confirmed that he is the baby’s biological father and “acted a bit unsure as to why police were even getting involved.”
A Tulsa police officer shed more light on the arrest by saying: “At the time, we received many questions along the lines of, ‘Where were the parents? The family permitted the relationship, and there are photos of the family throwing a baby shower for the victim and the suspect.”
Castaneda has been charged with enabling child sex abuse and neglect. Note that the girl’s father is already in prison, where he is serving a 12-year sentence for an unrelated case of first-degree rape.
As for Miranda-Jara, he was slapped with first-degree rape of a minor. In a post shared on Facebook, the police department revealed: “On 7/14/21, officers were called out to a hospital in midtown Tulsa regarding a potential rape. The suspect, Juan Miranda-Jara, stated that he was in a relationship with the 12-year-old victim that started in October of 2020. The victim was at the hospital and was in labor delivering his child at the time.”
The member of the Tulsa Police Department added: “They walked in just like any other couple would excited to deliver their newborn child. We don’t get this kind of call every day. It certainly was a surprise for everyone involved.”
Miranda-Jara is facing a minimum of five years and a maximum of life in prison without parole.
