A lot of ink is being spilled about the meeting between Queen Elizabeth II and her great-grandchildren — Archie and Lilibet Diana.
However, after insiders revealed why she could not spend a lot of time with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s children — the Queen is now being praised for her efforts and gestures.
Her Majesty met Lilibet and spent a brief time with Archie when their famous parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, traveled to London in early June.
The California residents jetted to the UK to take part in Queen Elizabeth’s historical milestone — she celebrated her 70th year on the throne.
Prince Harry and Markle made sure that the aging Sovereign was introduced to her namesake great-granddaughter during a meeting at Windsor Castle that lasted between 15 minutes to an hour, according to royal sources.
No pictures were taken during the private family moment. Many wondered why did the Monarch spend such little time with the Sussex children?
A royal journalist has finally revealed the answer.
The Queen, 96, who is facing health issues and recently battled COVID-19, needed to rest and keep her strength because she had multiple events and public appearances to make during the Jubilee.
In an interview with Us Weekly, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti said that the Queen did the best that she could given her circumstances.
He shared: “She was working very hard to maintain her strength. I think it’s totally understandable that she was saving her energy as best she could for all the events that she wanted to be at if she possibly could.”
Many royal backers and people with aging relatives have praised the Queen for finding the strength despite her health struggles, her advanced age, and the demanding week to make sure that the important meeting with Lilibet happened.
Others commended her for clearing her hectic schedule for that special moment with Archie. The commentator also shut down the reports of tension between Prince Harry, Markle, and the royals based on the short meeting.
He went on to defend the Queen and praised her for being able to spend time with a baby and march on with a handful of public engagements despite her lingering health matters.
He told the publication: “We’re talking about someone in their 90s and a baby. We saw that she did manage to appear several times in public, and that’s great.”
Hours after meeting Prince Harry’s children, her Majesty delighted millions by appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Trooping the Colour parade with Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince William, and Duchess Kate Middleton.
The Cambridges’ children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and very energetic Prince Louis, also made appearances.
Prince Harry and his family were banned from Buckingham Palace because they are no longer working royals.
Following the parade, Queen Elizabeth’s health matters took the best of her again, and she was forced to cancel her appearance at the Service of Thanksgiving.
At the time, the Palace issued a statement that said: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and flypast but did experience some discomfort. Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty, with great reluctance, has concluded that she will not attend.”
On June 4th, the Queen gathered her strength and attended Lilibet’s birthday party.
An insider revealed: “After reluctantly pulling out of Party at the Palace, spending time with her great-grandchildren and seeing Lilibet turn 1 added some light to her day. She thinks they’re adorable and gave Lili and Archie gifts.”
Feeling exhausted from the festivities, the Monarch later skipped the concert held in her honor.
