This is the one time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might regret their wishes.
Prince Harry and his wife made a bold and unexpected request to King Charles III and the rest of the Royal Family — they want an apology.
Days after the renegade couple broke records with their Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, Buckingham Palace made some significant headlines.
The Royal Family set up a meeting between Prince William‘s godmother and Camilla, Queen Consort‘s close friend, Lady Susan Hussey, and Ngozi Fulani.
Lady Susan Hussey was at an event in Buckingham Palace, where she bombarded Ngozi Fulani with racist comments. Fulani sat down with Hussey, and she received an apology for the inappropriate remarks.
King Charles and his associates quickly issued a statement explaining that Hussey had delivered a formal apology and the matter had been resolved. The move has prompted Prince Harry and Markle to demand the same.
A close source to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke to The Sunday Times. They revealed that they deem it necessary that King Charles give them the apology they deserve after going through a hellish situation before and after “Megxit.”
The insider had this to say about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s hurt feelings and their desire to find closure: “Nothing like that was ever done when Harry and Meghan raised various concerns—no meeting, formal apology, or taking responsibility or accountability. That is hard to swallow—100% yes, they’d like to have a meeting.”
During an episode of Harry & Meghan, the Duke of Sussex confirmed that he was hoping his family would reach out and admit their part in his and Markle’s struggles and heartbreaks — but they never did.
The soldier prince confessed: “So none of us really wanted to have to talk about it at my grandfather’s funeral, but we did. I’ve had to make peace with the fact that we’re probably never going to get genuine accountability or a genuine apology [from my family]. My wife and I, we’re moving on. We’re focused on what’s coming next.”
A source close to King Charles spoke to The Sunday Times and gave an ambiguous answer. King Charles did not say no but did not say yes, either.
The royal insider claimed: “If [Harry and Meghan] want to get in touch with the King, they know where he lives.”
King Charles is clever enough to turn this situation into a double-edged sword for Prince Harry and Markle. If King Charles gives the pair the summit they are looking for, there will be both good and bad consequences.
His Majesty will come out on top — he will look like a leader with a heart of gold as a father and grandfather.
Prince Harry and his wife will once more be seen as two people who love to complain.
The meeting and apology will effectively end the lucrative business that Prince Harry and his spouse have set up for themselves — talk about their grievances via books, podcasts, paid speeches, and docuseries.
Prince Harry and Markle should be careful about what they wish for because they might just get it and lose millions of dollars in the process.
