Donald Trump has a habit of softening up when Melania Trump is around or involved. Next week, the former president will make a move for his wife’s sake.
It seems that Donald Trump and his spouse have accepted the sudden and gracious request to attend the funeral of former first lady Rosalynn Carter in Plains, Georgia, next Wednesday.
Donald Trump is planning to attend the celebration of the life of the great humanitarian alongside President Joe Biden and the current first lady, Jill Biden.
Former President Barack Obama and his spouse, Michelle Obama, will most likely be in attendance at the laying to rest of Mrs Carter.
The Carter family is also expecting Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton to pay their respects.
Laura Bush and former President George W. Bush plan to fly to Georgia to say a final goodbye to the late and kind-hearted Democrat.
At the age of 96, Rosalynn Carter died at her home in Georgia with her husband and former President Jimmy Carter by her side, holding her hands and telling her that he loved her one last time.
Mrs. Carter struggled with declining health in her final years caused by dementia. Rosalynn Carter, while battling an illness, remained alert and tenderhearted until the end, according to her family.
In an interview with The Washington Post, James E. “Chip” Carter III revealed that his mother helped plan her own funeral, and she requested that all the former first ladies attend.
Rosalynn Carter was fully aware that President Carter and Donald Trump did not see eye to eye, but she wanted politics to be put aside for her funeral.
Mrs. Carter asked her family to extend an invitation to Mr. and Mrs Trump. The media outlet reported: “Family members said Jill Biden and all former first ladies, including Melania Trump, have been invited to Rosalynn’s funeral. Rosalynn was involved in that decision, despite public disagreements over many issues between Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, and Donald Trump, a Republican.”
In life and in death, Rosalynn Carter remained merciful and compassionate. Chip Carter told The Post: “My mother was a gracious person, and she would treat everybody with respect, including a former first lady.”
Former President Donald Trump neglected to treat former President Jimmy Carter with any respect less than 24 hours after he lost his wife of 77 years.
At an event in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the day after the family announced the passing of Mrs Carter, Trump shocked the audience by publicly mocking former President Carter.
Mr. Carter has been in hospice care for several months. In an attempt to criticize Joe Biden, the real estate mogul said: “The happiest person anywhere in this country right now is Jimmy Carter because his administration looked brilliant compared to these clowns. Compared to Biden, Jimmy Carter was a brilliant, brilliant president.”
Aware that he might have gone too far, Donald Trump and Melania Trump eventually released a polished and articulate tribute to Mrs Carter.
The former Republican president called Rosalynn Carter a “great humanitarian” and praised her for being a “champion for mental health.”
On his Truth Social platform, Donald Trump wrote: “Melania and I join all Americans in mourning the loss of Rosalynn Carter. She was a devoted First Lady, a great humanitarian, a champion of mental health, and a beloved wife to her husband for 77 years, President Carter.”
He continued by talking about Mrs Carter’s legacy: “From her days as a U.S. Navy spouse to the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, to her tenure as First Lady of the United States, and her later work at the Carter Center and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, she leaves behind a legacy of extraordinary accomplishment and national service. Our prayers are with the former president, the Carter family, and the entire community of Plains, Georgia, that she loved so much!”
Mr. Trump is unpredictable when he hits the stage during rallies.
