Despite his health issues, King Charles III has proven again and again that his mind is sharp. He can resist the temptation to act out of anger and frustration, and as always, he is thinking long-term about the protection of the monarchy.
Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemed to have gone out of their way to disturb King Charles as he underwent cancer treatment.
The couple launched the website Sussex.com which contained their bios. The site promotes their various businesses, charities, and upcoming events.
It did not take long for royal watchers and sources from the Palace walls to come out and bash the project. Some royal experts said it out loud: “This is the last straw, and Prince Harry and Markle should be stripped of their titles after breaking the so-called Sandringham Summit that was put in place with King Charles and Queen Elizabeth II.”
However, King Charles took some time to reflect on the matter and decided the best course of action was to do nothing. Sources confirmed to The Daily Mail: “Harry and Meghan continue to toy with royal rules as they launch another website, but will the King remove their titles? ‘Not likely; that would involve Parliament and might easily misfire,’ says my reliable royal source. Many of Charles’s subjects – particularly those in the older age groups – are tired of the Sussexes but young people might find such a move unfair, particularly if the Duke of York is allowed to keep his titles. However, my source adds, ‘King William might think otherwise.”
The wise King believes that starting a war with Prince Harry and Markle over Sussex’s name, will put them in the spotlight and elevate them.
He will make sure that none of them happens. The Telegraph revealed the following: “Deprived of the Dukedom of Sussex, the couple would become more elevated still, as they would revert to being Prince Harry and Princess Harry, titles that can never be removed, as they are part of the Prince’s inalienable birthright, and a prince always trumps a duke, due in part to the scarcity of such handles. Their website, which now boasts the name sussex.com, a commercialization that some say crosses the line, at least in spirit, of their agreement with the Palace, might then read princeandprincessharry.com, which, though a mouthful, would be even worse (as would windsor.com), implying that they are the world’s preeminent royalty and that Meghan is a bona fide American princess. “Sussex” has the advantage of making them sound like a cricket club.”
While Prince William is eager to punish, King Charles seems to confirm that, at 75, his knowledge and wisdom will lead him to handle Prince Harry and Markle differently.
