Kate Middleton faced a Mother’s Day photo controversy last year when a picture of her and her children was criticized for being too staged. Still, she stayed quiet, eventually apologized, and gracefully moved on.
Finding herself in a situation reminiscent of Kate Middleton’s past, Meghan Markle chose a different path that has raised eyebrows.
Earlier this month, the former actress took to social media to mark Mother’s Day — the holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May in the United States.
In a photo presumably taken by Prince Harry, Markle is holding her young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as they hug her. She penned a sweet message to herself and other mothers.
The photo quickly gained traction, igniting a storm of reactions, with many voicing their concerns about the image.
Markle faced a barrage of criticism on social media and in the comments section, with many expressing disapproval of her perceived lavish lifestyle, particularly the expensive attire worn by her and her children in the photo.
The Daily Mail notes: “Much like her unsuccessful Netflix lifestyle show With Love, Meghan earlier this year, the image sought to present the Duchess as a relatable mother-of-two ‘juggling it all.’ However, it contained a telltale detail of expensive attire that proves her life really isn’t one most parents could hope to emulate. In the photograph, six-year-old Prince Archie is wearing a pair of particularly pricey pajamas made by an exclusive New York designer brand. The stylish sleepwear set was purchased from La Ligne, NY, for a costly £61 ($81). The children’s pajamas, known as the ‘Navy/white Enfant Bonne Nuit Pajamas,’ were limited edition and are no longer available to buy – not that most parents would be willing to splash out on such expensive sleepwear.”
Less than a week later, Markle doubled down on the mini-scandal with a collage of photos that screamed wealth and privileged life.
The former actress returned to Instagram, where she posted a massive collection of private family photos to mark her seventh wedding anniversary.
While some of the pictures featured on the collage are innocent snaps of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as babies, Mrs Sussex was slammed for displaying her wealth through her clothing and luxurious vacations in Botswana, Norfolk, Norway, and Mexico.
They were also criticized for the controversial decision to display their banned royal privileges on the mood board. The Mail explained: “The Norfolk beach was featured prominently in Kate‘s video confirming she had completed a preventative course of chemotherapy last September. One of the most recent photos tacked on to the board is a sun-soaked snap of Harry and Meghan sharing a sweet kiss while posing in front of palm trees during what appears to be the couple’s most recent getaway to Mexico with their children.”
The photo montage included never-before-seen snaps of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at a Christmas gathering and having fun in the backyard of the Sussex family’s $14 million Montecito mansion.
However, the Daily Mail pointed out that the pinboard has sparked much discussion because it looks self-obsessed and attention-seeking.
The media outlet also explained: “Controversially, Meghan also displayed what appears to be a photo of her coat of arms approved by the late Queen Elizabeth II when she became Duchess upon her wedding in May 2018. Meghan worked with the College of Arms to design the coat of arms that would represent her personally and her American roots before the Queen signed off on it.”
Markle is making it clear that she plays her own drums and dances to her own beat.
Everyone knows that all the photos are staged so that she gets maximum exposure and the sad thing is that the press play her game the pair of them are a waist of space and as for the children I really do think that they are hired for the occasion and that’s why we never see their faces but with any luck the truth will come out one day
