Kate Middleton lives by a simple rule: she keeps all her promises, even the heartbreaking ones. It was a joyful month for Princess Kate, Prince William, and their children.
The future queen published a highly talked-about video in which she and her family enjoy summer strolls and making sweet memories on the beach and in a forest.
The Princess of Wales delivered the happy news that she had completed chemotherapy. However, she is not yet cancer-free but is determined to remain healthy and live a precious life.
Sources explained to PEOPLE Magazine that the Princess of Wales’s health is still fragile. She will gradually return to work but only undertake a “light program as she has continued working from home, taking meetings, reading up on important happenings, and making calls.”
Days after the announcement, Middleton kept her word and took on her first royal engagement of 2024.
Kate Middleton had an uneventful but productive meeting at Windsor Castle on September 17 with the staff to tie loose ends surrounding her Centre for Early Childhood initiative.
Yahoo noted the following about the first meeting: “Something particularly striking about her first day back on the job? This was a more low-key meeting versus a big event with cameras and royal watchers following her every move. Whether or not that was on purpose remains a mystery, but it makes sense for someone still in recovery and in the process of getting back on the horse after some time off to ease back into her role.”
Will there be more events, meetings, and royal engagements? Middleton has already laid out her agenda — she will make two appearances this year and will not be available after that.
Middleton will remove herself from public life again for two key reasons: her health and her children.
According to a royal author and BBC royal correspondent, Middleton will be more or less absent from the public for the next decade.
Jennie Bond stated: “Catherine has made it clear that from now on, more than ever, her family will come first. She will return to work slowly, on her terms, and William will completely support her in this. He will not exert any pressure whatsoever on her to increase her workload because the days of duty taking precedence over everything have passed.”
She went on to say that Middleon will use videos and social media to get her message across but will not put herself out there.
She stated: “This doesn’t mean she intends to be only part-time forever because these days there are other ways to be visible… Video messages and social media posts are all ways she could still be in touch and give her support to her causes, while still being there for her children.”
According to Bond, the Waleses children are going through a rollercoaster of emotions and growing pain as they watch their mother and grandfather battle serious illnesses, and their father learns to navigate a complicated situation alone.
For these reasons, Middleton will keep her promise of being a hands-on and dedicated mother and will, therefore, focus her attention and energy on what truly matters in this world — her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
She said: “In 12 or so years, when Catherine’s full recovery will hopefully be well-established, the children will probably all be off into further education, and then she can concentrate more on her work…But until she feels comfortable taking on more, we must be patient. We should spare a thought for those children. Yes, I know they have been born into huge privilege, but they have a grandfather with cancer, a grandmother who was killed before they were born, a mother the center of their world who has been made vulnerable by this sledgehammer of a disease, and a dad who is battling all sorts of emotions while trying to do the best for his family and his country. Those children deserve to have their mum with them for as long as they need her.”
She concluded by revealing the next time the public will see Middtelon, saying: “If she’s well enough, we will almost certainly see her on Remembrance Day. There are also plans for her to host her annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, which should be a joyous occasion, and I’m sure many senior members of the royal family will want to support her.”
Middleton stays true to herself.
