Kate Middleton is savoring a significant victory after successfully campaigning against the rigid tradition of sending her children to Eton. She has now decided to leverage that win by making new demands regarding the family’s holiday plans.
Victory Secured: The School Decision
This week, it was confirmed that Prince William, King Charles III, and the old British system of doing things caved to Princess Kate‘s requests: her children will all attend the same school.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, chose her alma mater, Marlborough College, a prestigious, co-educational, independent school in Wiltshire, England.
The New Battlefront: William’s Christmas Call
However, Kate has already taken on a new battle and will again go head-to-head with her husband and partner of more than 20 years, Prince William.
While Kate often stands with him and believes he knows best how to handle certain matters regarding the monarchy and the Royal Family, this month, he has left her mortified and even disappointed by one major call he has made.
A royal source told the Royalist: “William and the family will do their duty and go to church with big smiles pasted on, but they are not expected for Christmas lunch at the big house. It has been an extremely difficult year for William and Catherine.”
This will mark the third year in a row they have skipped lunch with William’s dad. A friend of the King played down the report that he is hurt over the decision and delivered a diplomatic response to the Prince of Wales’s snub, saying, “Of course William is invited, and of course he is free to do his own thing without anyone being remotely upset.”
Prince William decided for the entire family that King Charles, his father, who is battling cancer and living with the fear that this might be his last Christmas, will not be surrounded by his loved ones for the holiday.
A Clash of Values
Kate Middleton comes from a tightly bonded family; they are present, supportive, and ask questions later, often making sacrifices for one another without hesitation. She is extremely family-oriented, which is why she fought so hard to keep her children at the same school and made sure Prince George would never see the inside of a dreaded boarding school. It is therefore beyond her that Prince William feels so strongly about ignoring his father’s heartfelt desire to be with his children and grandchildren.
Her battles are not over because she respects and appreciates the King, and she believes King Charles should spend time with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Her husband should not be a barrier. If she can help make that happen, she will.
