A father named Melvin Harris III is being called a hero by thousands of people after he got into a deadly fight with Leevon Armstrong, a man who was accused of trying to enter the bathroom stall where his daughter was.
The Arizona man has been arrested and his fiancée, Diana Jackson, is defending his decision to protect their daughter.
According to the police, on August 2nd, Mr. Harris went to pick up his daughter and a friend from work.
On their way home, the 16-year-old girl asked to stop at a QuikTrip gas station in Phoenix to grab a drink and use the restroom.
While in the parking lot, the 40-year-old father was approached by Armstrong who asked him for some money.
Harris obliged and entered the gas station to look for his daughter and her pal.
His teenage daughter told Harris that Armstrong had followed her in the bathroom and attempted to open the door of the stall violently shaking it but failed.
The young woman also pointed the pervert to the security guards and her dad.
Harris approached the security guards and told them to “take care” of the situation, or he would handle it himself.
After leaving QuikTrip, Harris drove to a gravel area where he saw Armstrong standing and a life-changing brawl took place.
According to witnesses, the father punched the man in the face, and he fell to the ground. Harris continued to punch and kicked as he moaned on the floor.
The bloodied man was taken to a nearby hospital with a broken nose and injuries to his brain. Armstrong died a few days later due to the brain injuries.
Police officers went to Harris’ home where he confessed to punching the man.
Harris claimed Armstrong hit him first and went on to explain that he does not recall beating the man as he laid on the floor.
Harris’ fiancée spoke to the media saying that Harris was protecting his child and he did nothing wrong.
“I’m not mad at him at all. I don’t feel like he did anything wrong. I love him. He did what he was supposed to do for our kid. You cannot tell someone they’re wrong for protecting their children. I would have done the same thing. I don’t feel bad at all for his actions. I feel bad that the man ended up dying in the process. I really do,” she stated.
Harris has been hit with a second-degree murder charge and will have his day in court later this month.
Many have taken to Facebook to back the father and are calling him a hero for going after the pervert who tried to harass his daughter.
Some people are willing to donate to Harris’ family to handle his legal bills.
