Prince Harry is a man that is hard to pin down. He does things his way, and the Royal Family has difficulty predicting his next move.
With the title of tell-all memoir, Spare, Meghan Markle‘s husband puts King Charles III, Prince William, and Camilla, Queen Consort, on edge.
Many observers say the book will be a powerful attack on the British monarchy. While it is likely that The Duke of Sussex will tell his story in a way that does not shine a bright light on the Kingdom, he could still surprise readers.
A popular commentator says the word spare might not be all negative. The title of the book could also be about showing some kind of mercy.
If that is the case, King Charles will be happy to start putting the Sussexes saga on the backburner.
Canadian media personality Elaine Lui, who has close ties to Markle, says people should avoid reaching conclusions before reading the memoir.
She explained: “It is actually a really kind verb. It involves effort. When you spare time or money or thought for someone, you’re making an effort, and more often than not, it’s a helpful effort.”
Lui continued: “In some cases, to spare is also to save. You can spare someone the trouble of having to do something that isn’t pleasant, something potentially harmful. Spare and save are interchangeable in that context.”
The columnist also added: “There can also be benevolence associated with sparing someone. ‘I didn’t want to ask her about that because I wanted to spare her feelings.’ And all of those ideas also apply to Prince Harry, given his personal evolution and the mission he and Meghan Markle have set for themselves and their work.”
It is an interesting look at the situation, and it is contrary to conventional wisdom. Prince Harry has issues with his family, but he also has a great deal of loyalty when it comes to his country.
So, it would make sense he would refrain from going after it in a brutal way. However, other experts feel the philanthropist will damage the new Sovereign no matter what he does.
Biographer Tom Bower claimed: “This book is really make or break. I imagine that King Charles has been warned that any retaliation won’t be pretty. All that King Charles can really do is to withhold the titles for his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet. Ultimately, I suppose, he could take away Harry and Meghan’s titles as well, but that’s pretty drastic.”
He also added: “I don’t know what else he can do. If it is as bad as I think it is, then Harry and Meghan have gone fully rogue.”
Bower says that the only forward for King Charles is to “break ties” with his son and daughter-in-law.
January 10 will reveal a lot about Prince Harry’s view of the Royal Family.
