A few insiders have decided to speak out and share the juicy secrets after Brad Pitt shocked the world by attending Jennifer Aniston‘s star-studded 50th birthday bash over the weekend.
To be clear, Angelina Jolie was not present, and thus far she has not reacted to the unexpected appearance. It has been confirmed that Aniston’s second ex-husband, Justin Theroux, was not in attendance.
According to sources, who spoke to PEOPLE magazine, the actress hesitated before deciding to invite Pitt to the soirée but realized it was a day to celebrate with all the people she loves.
And for over a decade Pitt played an important part in her life. While Aniston was happy to have Pitt at the event, there was little interaction between them.
The pal told the entertainment outlet: “Jen spoke to Brad briefly. At one point she hugged him and thanked him for coming.” There is no hope of the former power couple getting back together.
The person revealed: “They talked for just a little bit at her party. It was very cordial, very nice. Everyone is totally in a good place with each other, but it wasn’t like they were hanging out all night. It was seen as a really nice gesture by her for him being there and something that she really appreciated. The basis of their night together was that they are friends and had a very nice conversation, exchanging pleasantries with each other. It was nice that they could both be so mature and natural around each other.”
A long list of celebrities attended Aniston’s 50th birthday party including Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Jason Bateman, and Pitt’s ex-fiancée, Gwyneth Paltrow.
The source stated that they were shocked to see Pitt at the gathering and added: “Friends were a bit surprised but not shocked to see Brad there, but Jen has been open and honest in the fact that they have spoken here and there since Jen’s breakup with Justin [Theroux]. They’re friendly, and they’re on fine terms which is why nobody was shocked, but they knew the press, and everyone would talk about it. They’re not necessarily close, but more friendly.”
