Even though he was frequently portrayed in contexts that presented him as a billionaire, it looks like Jeffrey Epstein might not have that many assets under his belt, according to recent court documents.
The papers show a detailed listing of his net worth, totaling a little under $600,000,000.
And while the sum is still impressive, it is nowhere near the billions that some assumed Epstein had in his possession.
However, the fact the numbers cannot be verified independently has left some people in doubt including U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman, who said: “I don’t think the financial report tells me anything, really.”
In 2010, financial bible Forbes wrote: “The guy … is NOT A BILLIONAIRE. We repeat: not a billionaire. More likely he is worth a fraction of that. Because of so much uncertainty around his numbers, he’s never been included in the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans.”
At the same time, the revelation of his actual assets has made some worried, as there are people who seem to believe that the man is going to use his influence to evade the pressure that he is facing at the moment.
Epstein has already been convicted of sexual crimes and is even being accused of sex trafficking.
There are arguments that he should not have been granted bail in the first place because he has serious resources and could use them to buy back his freedom in illicit ways.
However, the court does not seem to agree with those statements and has decided to let Epstein out on bail for the moment.
Others have been calling for a lighter prosecution for the alleged offender, something which has drawn even more negative attention to his case and has put the motivations of some people into question.
Some conspiracy theorists are wondering if the effects of Epstein’s connections are playing out right now, or if these are just the honest opinions of people who would like to see true justice in this case.
Either way, there is still a lot of attention focused on Epstein. Some even want the media to explore more of his connections with President Donald Trump.
A person stated: “YES! I wish they would continue to report on his relationship with Epstein; also, it’s important to find out for sure if those allegations about Trump raping a young girl while with Epstein! People need to be reminded until the truth comes out about this!”
The next few months will probably reveal more about Epstein’s real fortune and his former friendship with Trump.
