Ariana Grande, who was embroiled in a bizarre scandal involving JonBenet Ramsey, has rapidly found a way to change the conversation by releasing a new song.
The diva posted a track called “Boyfriend” with Social House where she is once more talking about her many romances.
The 26-year-old star, who is currently pushing her album entitled Thank U, Next, had this to say about the song: “I feel like this song captures a common theme in the lives of so many people I know! People want to feel love but don’t want to define their relationship & have trouble fully committing or trusting or allowing themselves to love someone fully. even tho they want to.”
She added: “We wanted to make something uplifting that captures that feeling of being afraid to take the leap & trust, being afraid of being hurt or feeling like you won’t be enough for that person … but also how it feels to have a crippling crush on someone.”
After making a joke about JonBenet on Instagram, Grande became the subject of much controversy and was attacked by fans and foes.
It did not take long for the petite singer to realize the self-inflicted controversy and she backtracked ultimately. Miss Grande also apologized and tried to explain her position.
The post that started it all was in reference to a picture of Ramsey, who was killed in her own home in 1996 when she was just six years old.
Grande’s friend, Doug Middlebrook, who originally shared the post said: “No one has done more covers.”
The pop diva reposted the photo with the following caption “I can’t WAIT for this to be your Halloween look,” while Middlebrook responded by “working on it already.”
And while it could have been an inside joke between two friends, the public at large certainly did not take kindly to it, and many immediately jumped to criticize Grande for her behavior.
The singer did not immediately respond to the thousands of harsh comments. However, after a while, it became clear that she could not face the backlash any longer, and issued a sincere apology and deleted the post.
It does not look like the apology itself has gone over too well though, as many people remain critical of her inappropriate joke and have continued to call her out on what she did.
Grande has been involed in strange controversies in the past — she was caught licking donuts and was accused of darkening her skin for a photo shoot.
