Beauty guru Jeffree Star has responded to Internet rumors that he has been romantically involved with rapper Kanye West.
Earlier this week, a source revealed that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are beginning divorce proceedings and have already hired a divorce attorney to start settlement talks.
And it was not long before a rumor started on TikTok, alleging that West had been “hooking up” with Jeffree Star “for months” and cheating on his wife, Kim Kardashian. There is currently no evidence to suggest the two have ever met.
On Wednesday, Star responded to the rumor by posting two photos on Instagram to more than 14 million followers. In the pictures, he has rainbow-dyed hair and is wearing a fluffy pink robe while showing off chest and hand tattoos.
The caption reads, “I’m ready for Sunday Service,” with a dove emoji — clearly alluding to Kanye West’s Christian Sunday Service Choir, which was established two years ago.
West and Kardashian have not responded formally to the rumors when requested. Star has decided to share a lengthy 25-minute video answering questions from followers on social media about the rumor.
In a matter of hours, the video picked up almost 6 million views with the following caption: “Hi 2021, let’s relax. Addressing this Kanye West and Jeffree Star situation and the truth about why I moved to the state of Wyoming.”
The makeup guru explained: “I guess some girl made up a whole lie on TikTok, and it went viral, where she insinuates Kanye and Kim are getting a divorce because a big male beauty influencer is sleeping with him. I’m single. I’m not sleeping with anyone. This is so weird…this is so stupid.”
He went on to reveal: “Let me just say this one time…I like very tall men. Me and Kanye have never hung out, and this whole thing is really funny. I get why people are really laughing about this. In an old song of mine from 2009 called “Bitch Please,” I say a line about Kanye. But it was very like Eminem. I mentioned like 50 celebrities.”
The speculation began when influencer Ava Louise made a post on TikTok this week to say that the Kardashian-West divorce was “no surprise” to her, as she knew Kanye West had been cheating on Kim Kardashian with a “famous beauty guru.” When followers made comments about Jeffree Star, she liked their comments but did not categorically name him.
The rumor soon spread to other sites, including Twitter, where the name “Jeffree” was trending on Wednesday.
Ava Louise, who has more than a quarter of a million followers on Instagram, grew her online presence and following in large part due to her “coronavirus challenge” last year, where she licked an airplane toilet seat.
