More details are coming out about Paul Anchondo, the baby boy whose parents — Andre Anchondo and Jordan Jamrowski Anchondo, 24 — died to save his life during the El Paso shooting. His photo with President Donald Trump and wife Melania also made some noise.

One of the most tragic reports that came out of the Walmart shooting was about Jordan Anchondo, a mother of three, who was killed while she was shielding her two-month-old baby from the gunman. The funeral for the young mother of three took place on Saturday.

The boy that was being shielded by his mother survived, albeit with a few broken bones as the woman’s lifeless body fell on him after she was shot.

Many have praised her for her heroism, pointing her out as an example of how people should act in incidents like this one.

Leta Jamrowski, 19, Jordan’s sister, called her as a hero and added: “[Paul] pretty much lived because she gave her life.”

It was also revealed that the baby’s father, Andre Anchondo, was also fatally shot in the horrific incident, leaving the child and his siblings as orphans.

Various friends and family of the father spent a day looking for him after the shooting took place. However, in the end, an official announcement was shared on Facebook confirming the man’s death.

The couple went to Walmart to get a few supplies for they were having a party to celebrate their first wedding anniversary and their daughter’s birthday.

The shooter, with a profound hatred for Hispanics, walked into Walmart and took the lives of 22 people, injuring many others in the process. One of Andre’s nephew was also shot in the spree but was not killed.

The family initially had hopes that Andre like his nephew had made it out alive and well, as there was a lot of confusion the hours after the horrific incident.

However, that was not the outcome, Andre passed away as he was protecting Jordan who died shielding their only child together.

Andre’s brother Tito told NPR: “It takes a special kind of person, also, to adopt other children that aren’t yours. But he was a great brother, a great son, a great husband. Jordan as well was a great wife. She helped him stay strong.”

A  GoFundMe account has been set up in honor of Andre and Jordan Anchondo to pay for the baby’s medical bills and to help the family.

Because you should remember their face & story & not the killer. Husband and wife #AndreAnchondo, 24, and #JordanAnchondo, 25 were doing some back-to-school shopping at the @Walmart with their 2-month-old son, after they had dropped their 5-year-old daughter at cheerleading practice. As the gunfire erupted, mother Jordan shielded the couple’s son. At the same time Andre jumped in front of his wife and son to protect them both. Tragically both Jordan and Andre died. Their son is okay. The couple just celebrated their first wedding anniversary. In all, they had three children. Now there are THREE CHILDREN WITH NO PARENTS. This is the face of #ElPaso tragedy. They were school shopping, what so many other American parents are doing for their children. The only difference is they will never go home. #RIP

Many, who have attended vigils and who have been showing love for the Anchondo family, are upset over the photo of President Trump and Melania with baby Paul.

One critic made this comment on social media: “So Trump selected an innocent baby who did not have the fortune of knowing and growing up with his parents ? , but this does not matter to trump more than him and his money and the fame of the president, but we will see how it ends when he gets old !!! You were innocent and heroes in the face of evil. May Our Lord bless you both and help you watch over your children from Heaven as they grow up with your families. My heart is hurting..???.”

Another person shared her thought: “So gross. I wonder if T&M even know what the “photo op” (grosser) is about. They may as well be at a red carpet event. Automatons. Weirder still is the idea that relatives would pose alongside. Maybe they’re in shock?”

This comment from a European trying to understand the situation said: “Sorry, I am from Denmark and probably do not understand American customs, but normally when you meet victims, you show respect, not use it for a publicity stunt with a big grin and a thumbs up ? These families are grieving, and what they get is a big smiling loveless man who shows no respect to neither God or human being. It saddens me that the families have to endure this kind of disrespect. ? My condolences go out to the parents and other families of Jordan and Andre. I pray that God will remember them on the day of the resurrection.”

A fourth remark called for gun control: “What a shame holding the baby like a trophy fish, if the family a trump supporter why didn’t they ask trump to change the gun laws, your brother died by the sword.”

The family insists that they are Republicans and have been supportive of the president’s policies.

Politics aside, the story has touched the nation in a very profound way. The GoFundMe campaign has raised close to $50,000 in about a week.
