A black California teen found himself in what seems to be a scene from a horror movie after he was attacked, abused, and kidnapped by the parents of his girlfriend, according to police reports.
The San Bruno Police have confirmed the girl’s mother, Haydee Arguello, 46, her stepfather, Wilfredo Amaya, 46, along with her biological father, Luisandor Suarez, 49, have been arrested for the alleged hate crime.
Arguello, Amaya, and Suarez have been slapped with several felonies relating to a hate crime, including assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and kidnapping.
On Thursday, the 17-year-old boy went to the police, and he shared the nightmarish events that took place.
The teen said he was visiting his girlfriend in San Bruno near San Francisco when he heard her parents returning home around 2:30 a.m. that morning and he ran and hid in the closet. All three parents have been charged with hate crime for kidnapping the boy.
The young man claimed that Arguello, Amaya, and Suarez were angry when they discovered he was with their daughter and “became irate and started assaulting” him.
The suspects ganged up on the teen to restrain him with a rope, threatened to kill and assaulted him several times, and held him against his will. The trio, who are Hispanics, also screamed a series of racial slurs at the teen.
The boyfriend said he strongly believes his race “to be a motivating factor in the attack.” Belkys Gomez and Katherine Gomez are defending their parents. They claimed that they were defending themselves and their sister because the teen boy attacked them.
Belkys spoke to local media and said: “They were so scared because they found someone in the closet. They jumped because everyone was sleeping and this guy started kicking my stepfather and trying to kill him.”
Katherine went to say: “He punched her and then my stepdad, of course, is not going to let anyone hit his wife. They tried to stop him, and he was acting very violent, so they grabbed a rope to try to tie him down and asked him why he was at the house.”
Katherine said the teen boy lied and her parents never used any racial slurs during the incident. The family’s neighbor, Jorge Flores, said he heard the boy screaming during the alleged attack.
On Friday, all three adults were arrested and are being held at the San Mateo County jail without bail.
The teen girl has been removed from the home by Child Protective Services.
